What make of set up to go for

I prefer moerman tools for fanning, as for ladders, 7m triple will do, take top section off for 99% of windows, and will easily reach gutter height

I do want to go onto moerman tools. But I thought I would start off on a standard squeegee first to learn the basics. Where's the best place to buy the 7m triples ladders clisty1989

Abru 6.92m triple from b&q £96 great for starters. Most on here recommend lyte ladders though

I have an Lyte ELT 10 rung 3 section ladder it's solid and well made, and I feel safe on it. I only use the top 2 sections for window cleaning and add the bottom section when I'm doing gutters.

Funny enough That's what I think I'm gonna get the lyte ELT 10 rung 3 section. There the ones with the blue sides I think?. Was thinking of just getting a double but now I'm gonna get triple. The bottom section when detached might still come in handy. Think there about £130. Don't wanna cut corners on ladders. Wanna come home to my kids. Thanks for the advise lads. Hiya Danny138, I've not upon here for a few weeks so sorry for the late reply. The lyte ladders are a good choice as I'm sure all come with roundish triangular rungs( a must if your on them all day, squared rungs end up with your feet on a point & cripple you in time !!!)

I brought the triple & mostly use 2, but the 3rd is there as back up for gutters & awkward stuff, backup is way better than overstretching & accidents.

yatesmon totally agree with you on the stand off. It's also handy for hanging cloths etc. and it does make the ladder much more stable.

Haha yep, you know you have to wipe the sill & there's now to put stuff ( I loath wearing belt buckets personally) so the ladder stand off is perfect, if the job is needing I generally attach my belt bucket with reusable cable ties to the top of the ladder or stand off & hang my sill cloth too

Hiya Chris33, well I've got this plus another more heavy duty version ( I found the heavy duty version at a random carboot sale for £10 not £200 /emoticons/smile.png ) but that was a fluke.

There is a difference between the 2, but this version is still stable, I've been using mine the last 2 weeks, its way lighter for normal use. If you don't square up your ladder to the building & do the basics then ladders are unstable full stop, but after that its fine.

The difference it makes to cleaning windows is massive. I spent years stretching up & struggling, this makes you smile the 1st time you use it.

Totally mate, it puts you away from the gutters, looking down into/ at them. Whether you mean wiping them or emptying them. It stops that gutter splatter on your face( well near enough)

Ive used it on my 3 & 2 piece ladder & it never fails to make it easy, the V is way handy around down pipes too. the only advantage I get with my heavy duty is setting up on corners is like being on a straight wall

Chris33 It's the one I have used for a couple of years and I've had no problems with it. Even use it when gutter cleaning. I've also got the microlight as well before any one suggests it ;-)

Thanks Yatesmon for the advise. They look like a good idea especially for gutters. Will get some of them. As I will be working on my own

i used a stand off and ladder m8rix cleaning frames yesterday positioned over a porch on a bed of loose slate and felt as safe as houses . using the two pieces of kit together stabilizes the top and bottom of the ladder and are definitely my best purchases this year

i do like the look of those stabilizers and do think it looks professional when you set it all up , helps to justify what the custys are paying for [ in their minds ] so will be a new toy in the near future

Basic tools for basic training ! You can always upgrade to combo-tools , but the skills is best learned by a simple squegee and an applicator .
