What would I need to get this up

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Looks like it needs a carbon sediment filter and Di vessel probebly worth changing the ro membrane unless you know what it’s producing needs a few quid spending on it but sure it would do you ok once up and running

Depends how long it’s been standing for? If you don’t have a clue about how to DIY a full system get in touch with the manufacturer as they will have schematic diagrams of all the pipe work, valves etc. Also - if you are going to use it for cleaning, do you need the RO or can you do without it?

My mate said could do without the ro if that’s the case would I just buy a Di vessel and a pump ??

Double di are available for £66 from eBay same place for a pump unless you want a shurflo which would be around £60 as well - you will find it’s the little bits and bobs like hose connectors and clips that add up. And like PJJ says a sediment filter and housing (10” would be around £15-20) and then the carbon filter (20” would be £30 odd for the housing then another £25-30 for a fibredyne carbon filter) Check your incoming tap water TDS before you start buying as if it’s anything over 100ppm you’d be better off with the RO and even worse news if the tap pressure is rubbish because you’ll need a booster pump too

Approx costs

ro membrane £200

di vessel and resin £120

pump £80

+ any other little bits and bobs

A 4040 membrane will cost £247 + vat. Even if the membrane was new it would be dried out now.

Prefilters, probably 10"

A Shurflo pump and I bet the controller doesn't work either. You need a battery to drive the pump/s and you need hose reel/s, hose and pole/s.

You will also need a Di Vessel.

What the tank's worth? I would say £50 for both tanks and £200 bucks for the frame and r/o housing. A brand new 500 liter tank and frame from PureFreedom is £586  + VAT so we are being generous at £250.

So you get the tank for £250.00.

R/O membrane £300.00

Prefilters 10" £35.00

Sediment and carbon block £20

Shurfo pump and Varistream controller £170

7liter di vessel £52

25 liters of resin £80

Hose reel with hose £200

SLX 25 pole £300

Van port £30

Odds and ends £100

Total £1550.00

Ok thank you for your help. I’m thinking of just getting a pump Di bottle and just getting rid of the ro system. Does that sound like a plan.  Thanks for your help I really appreciate it as I know nothing and want to get going ASAP

Most window supply company’s sell Di vessels , tulson virgin resin is the best I have found, Gardiners sell it , pumps Gardiners , Grippatank: sell quality equipment give someone like theses firms a ring and ask them for there advice both the above company’s are trustworthy and will give you honest advice

I think I would keep what you have got and buy bits to add to it. Otherwise you will just be buying back what you have sold. What you have here is the bits that don’t really age in the tank, frame, ro housing. I would strip it all right down and clean it really well. Re-wire the flow controller and add a new shurflo pump. Simplify the pipework. If you have space remove the ro from off the frame and set it up in your shed to filter water.

As a delivery system all all you need to add is battery, pump, hose reel and pole. You need to buy these regardless of whether you keep this or not. Unless you have money to burn for a grippa system or something I don’t see a problem with the bare bones of what you have got.

i reckon you can save 50% using bits off this over buying everything new

I've just noticed that the Varistream has a switch on the side and has wires going to what appears to be a float switch. I would love to know how that's been done. Maybe it is a Varistream box with a relay to operate a solenoid valve and not a controller at all.

I'm intrigued.

I agree with you @Dr Von Samstein. He should build on what it there and he will have a full working system once done.

We got ripped off we did as we bought it without doing some research. I screenshot the add so will put the add up as to what should of been with it. We drove 9 hours there and back to get it

Good spot @spruce, there's something funky about the varistream controller, look how many wires are leaving it

So be it. It happens. But you will know next time. Newbie wfpers get caught fairly often.

The damage has already been done - you aren't going to get your money back or the time you spend collecting it no matter how you got ripped off. Its no good 'crying over spilt milk' as the saying goes. Sometimes the medicine tastes terrible but its the end result that counts and you have learnt from your experience. I'm sure that this purchase can't be classed as a 'train smash.' If it is then you need to consider small claims court procedures if you were sold something that wasn't.

So use that to build on. What you spend is a business expense, so when seen in the bigger universe of things it won't be an outlay as some business have to to get started.

That tank, the frame and the r/o housing look ok. At least putting new pumps and controllers in will ensure trouble free window cleaning for a while. You have got the foundation there. You will need the other stuff anyway.
