Sorry all, another possibly dumb question, but they dont like to make things easy. Now the pump, thought id have it upside down like many others do, yet theres no direction arrows or anything to suggest which is inlet and outlet. I presume id have the strainer and inlet on the left? Actually you can see shurflow written on the black casing bottom and upside down the writings going the right way, so hopefully strainer on left?  I saw a load about it in previous thread but didnt totally clarify for my simple head ; )    (i'll get there one bloomin day )

great cheers. not such a dumb question as someone assisting me who is a knowledgeable diy all rounder couldnt even get it right.

On the Shurflo pump I have in my office there is an arrow on each side of the connectors pointing to the direction of flow.

If you run the pump (its ok to run it dry for a short time) you can easily feel which side is suction and which side is the outlet my putting your finger over the connector.
