Sounds fast :) I'm happy to potter along these days, can watch life evolve by the time I get to my destination, or rather devolve, watching the driving manners of other motorists

I know what you mean

I take it easy nowadays

No more fast cars or bikes

No more track days

I miss my old mini the most

1380 swiftune turbo race engine

An old mini, Vw camper, Land Rover defender. Those would be my lotto win vehicles of choice :)

Again though, not sure how safe an old mini would be in these times, crash-wise.

My missus old 306 turbo was taken to the breakers yard today so she is in mourning. Bless her

I don't know why she got so upset as I only paid 200 squid for it 5 years ago and got 90 squid for it scrap. Mind you was a good reliable little run around in that time for her but was time to meet its maker and be recycled into a fridge or two /emoticons/biggrin.png

I can't see the pont in spending thousands out on a car as you might as well burn the money instead going by how much they devalue each year.

Nice savings there smurf ! I can't imagine getting a pricey car, just worry inducing, even if one can afford the upkeep. Constantly worried about scratches and knocks...

I learnt from a very young age don't waste hard earned money just to keep up with the Jones’s in this world unless you have money literally to burn.

Someone once suggested that I trial driving within the speed limit at all times for one whole week which was really boring at first.....but actually felt really relaxing and is something that I try to do as much as often........apart from motorways......or when I'm in a rush......or if some plonker drives up my a**e........f***ing b****ard.......What you lookin at!......Pull over you p***y!............

snap!! 1293, forged pistons, big intercooler....quite laggy and did like to strip 2nd gear often but, cluck me, nothing puts a stupid grin on your face quite like a really quick mini...ebay:rolleyes:

I miss the minis

When i met my wife she had a fluorescent pink one with 1275 metro gt turbo lump and hle gearbox and i had the stealth chocolate brown city with the swiftune beastie

We were in the same club

The A's of Herts

Being a series engined cars in Hertfordshire

I liked that name

Used to go on track days to donny and camp on the grass opposite with a few thousand other mini nuts

When I went from using a pf trolley as got fedup of humping water containers about for my old berlingo I just bought another frame protection thing like you have at the back of the driver’s seat and bolted it to the back of the passenger seat (mountings are already there just need the bolts).http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Berlingo-Black-Van-Rear-Bulkhead-Drivers-side-/201339270139?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee0c173fb Then got hold of a chepo used wydale tank and some heavy duty ratchet straps from fleebay for next to nothing. Still would be better to get a frame made and bolt it in.

Depending how you want the van configured but I used a 250 upright tank in mine or even a 400 upright wydale tank will fit ok (check dimensions first) as they have a smaller foot print to put other stuff in the back.

NO MORE humping water about - I use a static ro/di with 1000 litre holding tanks and just transfer the pure to the van tank.

NO MORE having to keep going back to the van to change containers or in your case refill your backpack.

NO MORE humping a trolley about the streets as used it static in the van connected to the tank and got myself a 100m hose reel.

Was the best move I ever made /emoticons/smile.png

here's mine.still deciding whether to put a tank in, but like being able to take everything out and use the van for other stuff.

On your berlingo keep an eye out on the engine auxilary belt as mine snapped and went into the camebelt housing which fooked the engine up as knackered the cambelt too. Apparently as I found out afterwards is very common. Was not worth repairing so I scrapped the van off all because of not changing the auxilary belt that cost less than a tenner to buy. I was gutted to say the least when it happened as was a very tidy little van.

Thanks for the info smurf I like the idea of another bulk head and straps I will look into the dimensions. Thanks

If they want it they`ll have it.

I use a handbrake lock and a steering wheel lock, and my important items are chained up in the back, pole comes in house overnight. Can only do so much

I think its also an issue with other vehicles as well. The cambelt is only 'protected' by plastic covers which would be easily shattered by a breaking aux belt flying off.

I changed the aux belt on my van when I did the cambelt over Christmas. I haven't changed the belt in the 6 years I have owned it and I doubt it was changed in the first 4 years of its original owners life. So it was over 10 years old and had minor cracks through the tracks all the way round the belt. But the mechanic that services my van (for the service history stamp) has never flagged the belt up as needing replacement.

My Xsara is also 10 years old and I will change the belt one weekend this summer. I won't be surprised that if the belt is also 10 years old and again never changed.

In the early days when did we hear of a fan belt lasting 100,000 miles? We generally replaced the fan belt every time when we did a service and tuneup.

Agreed. Ive just put a hose reel in mine this last month and on the whole much easier. Although the hose can be really annoying catching on everything in sight. Also come across a few situations where trolly would be easier so my next thing to do is make a seperate van mount so I can use the trolley separately.

Seems problems either way. I mean having little trolley getting round back of properties through gates etc etc is good. But filling backpack and carrying barrels is not fun. With a reel it would be lots easier on the bigger properties not having to fill up all the time but also with a reel if your at a house then ur next one is couple of houses down and across the road u surely have to pack up everything and move van whereas trolley u can walk over and leave van where it is. But overall reel is best I guess.

Seriously buddy get a van mount, I have just converted. Not only do I finish earlier but I also get more work done in that time. Can't believe I used to lug containers about for 2-3 years. What a headache that was.

I detest using the trolley. The wheels roll over the hose, it gets stuck in gates, and carrying the pole as well is a pita. I know you can put reels on them and storeage for your pole, but I can't be arsed.
