Ah I been to jersey a few times, i actually rather a hoilday in the channel islands than heading out to the mediterranean.
Must be great place for kids to grow up, I remember see bunch of school kids chilling out on the beaches and sufing after school.

Am i right in saying someone like me cant buy a property in Jersey unlesz youre born there due to lack of properties?
We all grow up surfing and fishing and diving all summer long, then depressed all winter long as there is sod all to do. Hated growing up there.

The reason you cant buy a house is 2 fold: 1 you don't have 'quals' as you werent born there and as you have not resided there for any length of time (over 5 years) you can only rent certain properties.

2: You aint go excessive millions and even then it aint a guarantee. John Nettles spent the 80s making the island legendary, when he applied for 'Residency' he was told 'No mate, do one, you got no dough!'

I have been very lucky with the weather whenever I was over the Channel islands, my family know a few locals over there. A few mentioned they are not happy with all the new building keep being built (flats & office's) which causing the islands to lose it charm and younger generation are unable to get on the property ladder. Seem like channel islands got it own problems too

Cheers mate. I'll ask mother how she feels about that after all only 2 of her uncles were executed for helping to organize Churchills Commando raids for information. Third managed to get out before they came but only to die in Northern France on D.Day.Churchill saved the Island from total extinction by surrendering it to avoid bombardment by the Nazis only 14 miles from our doors.

There's a history lesson. Pussy.:finger:
i never knew that about churchill surrendering jersey-see i've learnt something new today, thanks green

i honestly think the votes will be rigged so we stay in the eu,say for instance we did win the vote to get out then all manner of **** could happen with other countrys wanting to do the same-the eu could well collapse.

that leaves one question really,if the vote was to stay in and if you went by the poll figures at around 50/50 in or out it then leaves the uk as a split nation on the matter and the next political party come voting time can use this as leverage to get votes citing "we'll have another referendum"

i will still vote out as i beleive its in my families better intrests as well as the nations so we can be again in control of our destinies

Yes it was Gerald Durrell.

One of the most important zoos in the world.

Saved many species from extinction and bought many species back to the wild.

Zooologists from all over the world fight for a chance to work and study there. It has no equal to be quite honest.

His wife is also an incredible woman. Worked alongside him, and has kept it all going since his death. She also used transport all the animals herself as a skilled pilot.

Yeh . I read a couple of his books when I was at school . My brother worked in jersey in the 80 s said it was the cleanest place he's ever been . Got a custy who holiday there twice a year they love it . Looks a nice place .

Got your postal vote sorted? It's going to be close, we need you![/We are told by the media that you scots want to stay in the eu looking at the views of the people on this forum which covers the whole country it is not going to be close at all every one on my round wants out it will be riged.

I'm on another forum and the same thread has only one person saying they're *thinking about* voting out, and everyone else voting in.... Same as the Scottish Indyref, project fear seems to be working well, almost everyone saying they're voting in I'd saying it because they're scared of what happens if we leave /emoticons/sad.png

Scotland as a whole will vote to stay, but I for one will be voting out.

The Tories want in, the Lib Dems want in, Labour want in, the Green Party want in....
We'll stay in....

That's not strictly true though... There are an awful lot of tories campaigning for out.... Just because Cameron is in, doesn't mean he should be able to claim that the "Government stance" is fit in.

but its the outs that are using the fear button most & thats what sets me against them

Okay, sorry - let me rephrase.

The Tories as the ruling government are in, Labour as the opposition are in.....
