Get a young lad to go self employed with you, and subby a percentage of the work out to him. Get him to register as a sole trader and to get his own liability insurance. He can then invoice you for some of the work and take some of your other customers as his, so he can have more than 1 income source, for the tax man because if he's only earning from you different rules apply. You still run the job by telling him what to do and how much he needs to invoice you. You can collect and divvy the cash out as well so he doesn't find out too much info. You then won't need to be VAT registered until you both hit the threshold.
