To stop yourself being caught out. You could ;

Charge them double (4th clean free)

Charge them double (6th clean free)

Charge double then don't give anything free.

Problem is window cleaners are a lot easier to come by.

The customers doesn't know you. If you start quoting £30 for a £10 house just to cover messers they could turn around and say we will think about it. They may not be a messer but will just find another company who charges £10 but no premium on first clean.

If you do the

Charge them double (4th clean free) Charge them double (6th clean free) You and customer both win.

I decided last year "buying customers" is a far better way to expand for me. So although i may loose out on a free clean. If i keep customer for 10 years! Was it worth it, hell ya!

not so cheerful today as :turd: weather meant late start and all the buggers were in...

still thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes..but I WAS thinking why dont you all feck off out and leave me alone..

well until barbara gave my some lovely fruit cake and a cuppa tea...

knocked the door and one bloke came to the door and said oh I think she has put your money out...

so he left the door open and trundled off to see if it was there...

then comes back and said yes shes left it out for you...

not being funny but why the feck didnt he bring it back with him and give it me..

.

I then had to go and get it and post the plastic envelope through the door....

but still barbara always gives me nice cake...so mustnt grumble../emoticons/biggrin.png

I've had customers say hello to me when I'm cleaning and bugger off to do their shopping without paying me when I'm half way through... People must think I've got nothing better to do then drive round collecting money.

Drives me crackers that!

Or when they come out, say hello, go back in, then when you knock for the money they've disappeared off the face of the earth

yep danfire I had many like that...

one house...was ..very big...it took me two days..

one day in and one day out...

all georgians....and long before wfp..

just as I was finishing the last windows she said oh hello to me right by the door and I said yes iv nearly finished now..my arms are aching I joked..

of course I had to go back the next morning for my cheque../emoticons/biggrin.png

oh yep I felt physically sick walking down that long drive knowing what I had to face..

but even that not always a loser...

as I always kept an eye on the weather forecast and conveniently made the inside when it was raining.../emoticons/biggrin.png

Yep, I had one big house that I dumped years back. She actually buggered off out without paying me and left me stranded behind the electric gates. That was the final straw

Had one a few years back, lived round the corner from me. I didn't make her windows dirty again but I really really wanted to! First clean, asked if she could drop money to my house when she got paid! I thought 'ere we go! But she dropped it round. Next 2 cleans no one in so popped my card through. Every time I went to collect it was obvious she and others were in but never answered the door! Except when they sent their 6 year old daughter to the door claiming to be the only one home! Yes of course you're home alone at 6 years old! Shocking!

I came to terms with being knocked for the money, it's only £14 but it's the principle. One day whilst working in her road, she approached me and apologised for not having paid yet but said she would, when I asked when that would be she actually said these words "how long is a piece of string"

Yes, the only thing that stopped me hulking out on her was that she had her daughter with her :mad::mad::mad:

If I don't get paid for a clean, I don't clean anymore and keep dropping reminders through the door whenever I drive past, which is fairly regular, they have always paid, then I don't go back.
