How did you start out?...

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Last week I did my first ever paid WFP cleans. Both first cleans, one a bungalow with conservatory and the other was a large farm house. It felt pound for pound just as physically demanding as had I spent the time gardening
May I ask are you using a nice light pole made of carbon or perhaps a heavier glass fiber pole or even aluminum as that can make all the difference.

Also some first cleans can be pure murder but I would imagine that a regular service clean must be way easier than getting out the mower and hedge trimmer to do an hour of garden maintenance?

Correct me if I am wrong, I am no gardener.

Pole I use is a Gardiner CLX 22 and yes - weight wise lighter that my main hedge cutting tool of choice a STHIL HS81R which weighs in at 5.8kg (I’m not clever, I just looked it up).

My van is only a Vauxhall Combo, I like this sized van as it is less hassle for me in town with the very narrow streets we have. For this reason and the fact I do gardening too, I use a WFP trolley system with 25L barrels.

If I were to run with large water tank and hose reel off the van. Then yep, I can see where things would be easier. That's not possible for me yet.

Thinking about it, I think it's not so much a tool weight issue, I've cut a lot of large hedges this season alone - so arm and shoulder conditioning is already pretty much there I'd say. Although admittedly I did feel a bit more drained in the old neck area.

I think I just have to get used to being linked to something again. It's like when you move away from electric garden tools to petrol power, I could never go back to electric cables everywhere. And with WFP here I am, wrapped around every tree, flower pot, etc.

Ask me the same question next year and you may I expect get a different answer, but for now I find gardening easier, although I love WFP and the increase in income it has already started to generate.
