WCF

Help Support WCF:

Another pretty positive day today. 1 customer who has been a gem from the start I was dreading getting the wfp out on, but she was so understanding. What made it better is that her house is perfect for wfp. It's got the leaded top openers all over, loads of upvc, and to top it off the glass sheets nicely.

So glad I have made the switch, just need to get a van mount now as I am already fed up of filling the backpack.

Good to hear your doing well tolish. Like you I started with a trolley, but once I switched a van mount I couldn't believe how much easier life was. Only use my trolley or backpack very rarely now

Yep, no point in going wfp and spending half the time messing about needlessly. Watch this space for the van mount, hopefully long now.

I got my trolley out on Monday for 5 jobs in one close, what a ballache
Van mount all the way!
Yep. I'll still need to use it for some houses, but there are so many houses I have where the parking is easy and I'll be able to just pull my hose out and squirt all over a family home.

Another bonus today was seeing yer ole windie mate.

That was the cherry on the cake of my day mate./emoticons/biggrin.png.

We're you cleaning there or just stopping off for grub?

My nozzle has finally arrived. Should make filling barrels a dream. I've jubilee clamped the pump and nozzle to stop it popping off. The flow rate is slightly reduced now it's fitted but this will be down to the 10meter hose and reduced diameter of the nozzle, so it's to be expected.

I've switched to running off the van recently. Still not sure if it's quicker than a backpack on a sack truck. Seem to spend ages moving hose from one corner of the building onto next, onto next, onto next......know what i mean?

I like van mounts for not having to lift and carry heavy stuff but i can get the backpack out and do the job quicker without having to pull enough hose out then reel up again after etc

Swings and roundabouts

I see both your points, it I won't know until I get it. I can imagine I will soon figure out which houses are best served by which tool. It's nice to have options, that's why both the the ladders will stay on.

Must have ladders.

I bought sons shore ones recently, triple extension. Put them up to check a customers gutter and **** man, must have been moving six inches from side to side.

Did not feel safe!

I don't know what's quicker. I think my mood is more relevant than the tools I'm using.

A couple of people on here have seen me on ladders and know i have a great deal of experience on them and know exactly what i am doing but i will still avoid them when i can nowadays as why take the risk

Although they are an essential bit of kit that every windie needs to carry as sometimes you can't avoid using them even if only to get up a few feet to do a conservatory roof

I don't do work I can't reach with a pole now. Got enough Windows and facias to keep me going. I pass work on that I can't do to those who can. I like to keep my feet firmly planted on terra firma.

Just started doing a job this week who had to take his previous windie to hospital after he fell off his ladder on his property and broke his wrist. Seems he's retired from window cleaning. It's been two and a half yeas since they last saw him.

I'm gonna be using ladders for a conservatory roof and a gutter clear on monday

If i have to use them i will

There's no getting away from ladders in this job, the key for me now is to price right any time the ladder comes off. Not so much for danger money, but just because it slows things down.

Quick question: I need to extend my red waste pipe, I may put it through one of those hoses that has holes in it, so I'll need an adapter to hozelock, or I might just extend into more red hose to take it further into the garden. Has anyone got a good link for the hose and adapters?

So how you going on Tolish....I'm thinking of bobbing over to Pure Freedom on Tuesday to bite the bullet and cross over to the dark side.

Nice one mate. They're a bit of a drive from me but I got a quote off him last week, seemed a good guy. I'm weighing up a few options at the moment though. Start up a thread and let us know how you get on.
