I am about to start my business, but not sure which to do first.

Do I go out and buy the equipment first then get customers or customers first then buy equivalent or third option is buy equipment little buy little and go out and customers at same time.

See I don't want to get everything and get no custys

Hello

Firstly decide which method of window cleaning your going to do ..... Traditional requires very minimal start up equipment or WFP which you would need to find out your tap waters TDS first so start by buying a TDs meter from a good source for around £20

A low TDs could mean a basic Di only set up a high TDs means RO unit set up which obviously cost more to start up

Good luck and plenty advice found here just search the forum [emoji16]

I bought the basics then canvassed. Think my initial start out was £500/£600. Picked up 3 regular customers on my first afternoon of canvassing.

I didnt invest in a van & van system for 15/18 months. I worked out of my car to begin with.

By the time I got my van I had a solid 2/3 days a week most weeks. Looking back I wouldn’t have done anything differently apart from canvassed harder.

As RW says buy the basics and add to it as you progress ( unless your flush then buy it all now), when you canvas be prepared to clean the house there and then and that way they are “ on board” so to speak.

Spend a monkey on some essential kit plus liability insurance and get canvassing.

Buy the kit then go get customers.  No customer wants to hear 'I'll let you know once I get my gear to start' they want to hear 'Get that done Tuesday for you luv'

The only people that fail to get customers are the ones that don't bother putting in the grind, the ones that think it will come to them.

We canvassed Thursday for 2 hours 5 new customers, Friday for 2 hours 5 new customers and yesterday for one of our franchisees for 4 hours 17 new customers.

The work is always there you just have to go ask for it.

**Picked up another six in 2 hours today (Sunday) Part reason i'm putting in the steps is a knee injury in November so walking is good physio and why waste a good walk by walking past houses?

That's totally true. You need to be ready. It will take grit and determination but you will make it happen if you have those two qualities.

Do it! Good luck. ⚓?

Sorry to jump in on this post and change it a little bit I wanted to ask you Green do you find it easy to canvass and get those customers to sign up to GC? I’ve found it easy so far to sign folk up but that’s because I’m letting folk come to me so the balls kind of in my court. Thinking of canvassing in a few weeks but just wondered how customers took to you knocking on their door and then asking them to sign up to a DD. That is of course if you do that.

No issue at all really.  We signed 33 new customers for a few hours work over 4 days. Could have had more but there's always a couple that wont trust on first sight and sign.  Short version is we have 33 more than we did Wednesday last week.

Your words ''thinking of canvassing in a few weeks' so lets say you start February.  By then at our current leisurely pace we'll have added another 100 customers.  Mean average of £14 per customer. Monthly revenue increase £1400. Annual increase of £16'800 and all by the end on January or. I could spend my time "thinking of canvassing in a few weeks"

As I said above the only difference between those that do and those that don't is that those that do DO.... they don't really think about it, they just get on with it.

Cheers for your reply. I’m confident in canvassing I’ve done it plenty before but this would be the first time doing it with my GC only policy, just wondered how customers reacted to it.

And yes I’m sure you are right but I am a one man band with currently 350 customers on my books so I’m only looking to canvass to fill in certain areas and drop some annoying customers. I really haven’t got the time to canvass before then due to different family commitments.
