Hi all.

Ive got a hybrid water genie barracuda pole at the moment its the 27ft which i have taken one pole section off, taking it down to around 22ft with the weight being reduced down to around 1000g. Looking at buying a 22ft carbon fibre wg viper tomorrow. The weight is also 1000g. Im just wondering wether im going to see much difference between the two poles as the weight is going to be pretty much the same?

What are your thoughts on this or any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers tuffers. The choice has been between the slx and the wg viper. Both look very good poles.

What is the difference between the barracuda and slx?

If both poles weighed the same, what would be the noticable differences while working with the pole?

After having Gardiner SLX poles from using an Unger fibreglass pole when I started, I wouldn't spend my money on anything else. I use a 22' as my everyday pole. You need a light pole that's rigid. SLX ticks the boxes.

Well thats what im looking for. Just a nice light pole that isnt flopping all over the place left and right. The barracuda gains momentum and becomes very heavy when it tails whips left to right when doin sills, top and bottom of frames. Torn between viper and slx. Not a lot of reviews or info from people that have used them both. I know you give the thumbs up for the slx, have you tried out the viper?

I have slx poles, personally if I was you I would buy an slx18 great light pole I only use my Slx22 maybe once a day on average the slx18 covers most of my work married with a ultimate brush it's a good light combination.

you already have the 27 for any awkward windows.

I have the barracuda 27 and it matches the clx (both hybrid) point for point. As for the viper its the next pole I'm getting and is the equivalent of the slx. Being fully carbon fibre it'll be a lot less whippy, which at full stretch will make a difference. If I'm not mistaken the viper is slightly lighter and cheaper, and can come pre fitted with univalve and tubeless. However I do find Gardiners brushes better

@Green Pro Clean Ltd own an slx and viper, maybe he can shed some light on it for you

Well I ended up buying a viper. Mainly due to me living 10 minutes away from the cleaning warehouse. Im going to order an slx next month as i will stick a sill brush on it and that will do for certain jobs i have. I will do a comparison of the two poles and let you guys know. Used the viper all day yesterday on first cleans and i flew through them compared to the time i usually take when using the barracuda. Didnt have to wait for the pole to stop flopping around, doesnt feel top heavy even tho i have the same brush on both poles. Overall it felt balanced, light and very rigid. Defo worth the purchase as i was able to speed up each job but still same quality. No problem with the clamps yesterday

Currently using an unger pole which I'm not happy with. Bendy poles are bad for your back. Took the advice from this forum and looked up the slx. I noticed sureclean were advertising a new clx. So kinda baffled as to what the differences are between an slx and a clx. If anyone can tell me which is lighter and more rigid I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Slx is full carbon and a very good everyday pole and quite stiff

Clx is cheaper but is fibreglass/carbon mix a bit heavier and very whippy

Used an Unger pole today the cheapest one the aluminium one.... Wouldn't recommend it..
I still have a 25 foot aluminium phoenix renegade

No issue for us big boys although my shoulder feels it sometimes but that is due to an existing injury

I found with a hybrid that od you don't extend the no1 section it isn't whippy at all, although does feel heavier when reaching over connys etc.

I know what you mean Clisty. It's the diagonal motion over a conservatory which risks a back injury to me personally though. So I'm leaning in favour of the lightest and most rigid pole that is recommended.

sounds odd but it its a bit strenuous I extend it a bit more and run the pole either between legs or back of bent knee and leg that counter the weight. Hard to describe properly and not comfy, but saves your back.

Its my stomach muscles where it gets me. I think I tore them, it's probably a hernia. Hurts when i stop doing the job.
