Quite a number of cleaners have them @tench0771 who haven't off street parking where they can use an electrical extension cable.

They aren't cheap to buy but they use very little battery power and work effectively in froststat mode (just keeping the van warm enough to stop things icing up.) When compared to an air diesel heater they are a similar price. The diesel heater consumes much more battery power to start.

Draw back with the gas heater is that you have to have a gas bottle in the van.

They are available from motorhome/leisure outlets and from Ebay suppliers under the name of Propex.

I wish they made a similar unit to heat hot water. The reason why is that you mount this gas heater on the floor and drill 2 holes + mounting holes. The 2 holes are for exhaust and air inlet. So the exhaust is out the floor rather than having to cut a large hole in the roof of the van to exhaust those Forstar 8 liter LPG heaters that are popular with window cleaners.

View attachment 8922 Have you thought about a tube heater. ?

My r/o is in a cabinet along with the prefilters and di vessel in the garage. I have a 120w (or close to that) tube heater controlled by a thermostat to keep the inside at 10 degrees C. I initially had a smaller one but it didn't do much at all.

I would doubt a 120w would be good enough for your van unless you put it direct under whatever you needed to keep frost free. I can't pass an opinion on the larger units though.

I think Mark Munro did try them in his van. His video's are on YouTube.

Wouldn't a cheaper solution be to leave the water running round a trickle? So it doesn't freeze up? Must be a way to pump in a loop.........

I have a four foot tube heater bolted to side of van with a frost stat connected just plug it into the mains when I've finished. So far it seems to be working. Saying that it's hardly being a bad winter !

i need to get my tax bill down this year so £600 no biggy ill only use it when its freezing cold 2 months of the year so it will b a long turm investment well wrth the cash i think @spruce does this heater need to have a wast out let for the fumes ? ie cut hole in van for exaust or can it just sit on the flore of van and let it do its thing:D

I like the night heaters better as they run on diesel but its 6 and two threes both wil do the job but the night heaters can be repaired and fully reworked and have a life time of 15 years

Your spending £600 to only get £180 off your tax bill though mate, you'll still be out of pocket for £420.

I think it looks good but looks like a lot of cash for what it is.

I've known guys use a plant pot with a tea light candle under it to keep the van above freezing. /emoticons/smile.png

@tench0771 you need to vent and exhaust the heater through the floor of the van. There is a simple fitting schemetic on this Ebay suppliers page.

PROPEX HEATSOURCE 12V HS2000 SINGLE OUTLET LPG GAS CARAVAN CAMPER HEATER SYSTEM

The holes needed aren't very big as the exhaust is 24mm diamt (not sure if that's internal or external.)
