Heard a fascinating story the other day when I met another retired fireman. He said he gets 1200 a month after doing 30yrs but guy who went out on ill-health 7yrs before him is now on 1400 a month. It's to do with his being index linked right away and getting inflation rises each year when the public sector got no rise or 1%. One thing I do miss is the drying room, think I used it every week.

Come to think about it, the guys are on 1600 a month clear. Soon the retired will catch up, doesn't seem to make sense no wonder everyone is trying to get out before the pension collapses.
