This is my first holiday in 14 years as family as no one dared to look after the dogs hahaNowt wrong wi skeggy, had many a good holiday down there. Ive not been abroad much, maybe 6 times in my life..always holidayed over here as never been able to afford to take kids abroad.Luckily r lass has family over there so we stay with them just pay for flights.
Went to Venice a couple of months back Adam. Its stunning, but eye wateringly expensive. Get yourself a weekly bus pass (which are boats obviously), you can travel all over Venice and its islands with this and are actually more fun than the gondalers, which was an overated bore I.m.o. Have a nice timeNice one.
I only ask because i am going to Venice/Italy on Tuesday for a week and cant wait lol
Last day of work tomorrow, and i reckon itll be a short day as i need to get some stuff ready, fly out 7am Tuesday morning
I've been 2 years ago mate. Yes it is crazy expensive, I think it's 2 euro to use the toilets lol. Staying just outside venice so might go there for a day but usually travel about to Milan and lake garda etc. Beautiful country.Went to Venice a couple of months back Adam. Completely agree. The consistent nature of it and low overheads is unique. You can just keep refining your work until you are earning maximum potential. To match that level of work consistently with say pressure washing the marketting outlay would be huge.I believe the big money is in specialising in something and becoming extremely good at it.
Specialising in just windows and becoming extremely good at every aspect of it from front end of business and back end, and you can go as big as you like.
Good points Adam. One alternative is taking people on one at a time, I..e. Still make money, and while they do windows, you do the pressure washing and gutters etc. That's what I've been doing.Completely agree. The consistent nature of it and low overheads is unique. Like I said I have thought about this a lot lately as I've got busier with windows it gets more difficult to juggle everything so do I ditch everything else and just do windows. From a purely financial point yes it would make sense at least for a few years until you built up the repeat work. But thinking db out it do I want to get up everyday and clean windows all day long and feel like I cant have a break as I would get behind and probably never catch up. Seems like too much burden to me in that yes you are building a great income but also a huge commitment to slog away everyday. What I like about doing different stuff is that not only do you get paid a lump sum but it's easier to schedule a day off you just do t book anything in. Think it offers more flexibility and gives you different things to look at. Mind you I've always been open to different business ideas I've never thought I would clean windows forever I would drop the cleaning altogether and do something totally different if I felt it was more lucrative or better suited me.
But yes pick one area and be specialize in it if you want to make the most out of it. It's just for some the purely financial side of things may not be the only goal.
I think I will employ someone eventually. I was thinking a part timer to help on the windows and do the leafletting. At least give it a go anyway i know lots in here have employed some still di and some hated it but would like to try it one day and make my own mind up on it.Good points Adam. This, I am an exterior cleaner, cleaning windows isn't rocket science, you don't need to do it 40 hours a week for 10 years to be good at it.See i want to be an exterior cleaning specialist so have to offer all the services and do them 100% spot onTo me it is only 1 service encompassing all aspects of exterior cleaning
Yes thats certainly good enough for commercial work, what i meant was you could get away with a fair bit less for domestic.I have done large commercial jobs pressure washing, use the same machine as domestic, a 21 lpm pressure washer with a large rotary is good for large jobs.
I like (and have been developing) this approach the past few months. Since I sold my entire round I only take on the jobs that I want to for the window cleaning and have it now so only doing about 12 days a month on the windows, the rest is taken up with driveways, roofs, connys etc and I am personally much happier.See i want to be an exterior cleaning specialist so have to offer all the services and do them 100% spot onTo me it is only 1 service encompassing all aspects of exterior cleaning
