Hello Josh. i have a Vivaro with 650 litre tank and full ro system fitted, its a 1.9 TI and it pulls like a train, had a berlingo before this van and it was also a great little van with 400litre K.system fitted. I am in the process of buying another Vivaro as they seem ok.Also the Ford Transit is another good van. Will Post pictures of the vans soon. Regards Andrew.
cheers Andrew were already using a vivaro but I'm wanting to start up on my own instead of with the company so was looking for something a bit smaller as I'll be working on my own.. few people have mentioned Berliners now so going to have a look at weekend..

My berlingo copes well, it's only 1.9d carries 400lts water ok.

Be carful on the berlingo's 1.6hHDI lump is known for turbo issues. Basically oil starvation.

My money would be on a larger pay load combo (I have one) or deffo a ford transit connect.

I should add. Every van with bad bits.

Combo - poor starting in winter/chains can snap.

Berlingo - turbo problems.

Transit - can be rust buckets.

Vivaro - cam and head problems.

Connect - cams burn out.

Every van will have a bug bear. Set your budget and then go from there.

In fact tell me your budget and I will give you some options. /emoticons/smile.png

Having only just bought my van and we had the same budget 4k-5k. I have to go with the Vauxhall combo still.

For 4k you can get a 1.3cdti with the larger pay load 785kg and below 40k 2006-2008.

For the same money you can get connects, They will have higher mileage (maybe double) and be older (2005-2007)

VW caddys ARE looking good. Same sort of deal as a combo. Good payload, bit higher mileage maybe 50k -60k and about 2006/2007 (THIS i would look into more, as they are coming out good value for £, maybe i overlooked this van)

Berlingos and the peugeot equivalent are the best value for money BUT the 1.6HDI has got turbo problems. Most berlingos have the smaller payload and the 1.6HDI. I have a compact round. But i can still move the van 20 times a day. Stop and starting on a turbo vechicle is not great, even worse on an engine that suffers from turbo problems!

My money would be on a combo or caddy.

IF i had rebuy a van, i would deffo go for a transit and look after the body work /emoticons/smile.png

HTH

My main advice is space is probably more important that payload. I have got an 800kg payload in the combo, but space is a bit limited. Had to really plan it out. But i can either do two man or one man from my van /emoticons/smile.png

great advice cheers going to go sad have s look at a few st the weekend.. now I know where to come if I need any more help cheers!

My berlingo copes well' date=' it's only 1.9d carries 400lts water ok. [/quote']same as mine but mine will not budge with weight in it i wouldnt even dream of putting anymore than 125l in mine ive had a new clutch belts and always serviced every 6 months it will not budge up any incline even when empty if i take the dogs up to the moors all hilly roads ive allmost been stuck half way up the hill and thats just me and 2 dogs in the back gutless isnt the word lol.
if i was window cleaning full time i would use a vectra C estate sri 1.9cdti.loads of room in these get a flat tank in nicely in the back had one for a while rite motor.

There's something seriously wrong mechanically with that 1.9 of yours. They aren't that bad. Could be EGR valve, blocked exhaust, incorrect timing with changing cambelts or an injector pump problem.
The first thing I would check is the accelerator cable where is couples onto the pump. They use a spring clamp to hold the correct adjustment so the pump opens fully when you press the accelerator pedal to the floor. If that has corroded away or been lost there is the possibility that the pump is only opening half what it should be.

cheers spruce i may look into it mate it runs like a dream but is gutless i have amower and strimmer ect in the back but no weight in them plus i only move green waste but nothing heavy about that but i put 10 to 15 bags of sand or pebbles its had it lol.

Every van has there problems , toyota hi ace are the most reliable vans going. Vauxhall vivaro's do have there problems but just do what i did and get a later model that doesn't have a cam belt there chain driven as for the head they don't really go unless you don't look after your van. Make sure you get a van with full service history and all the mot's. its your work horse so you need to keep your van maintained all the time
