Yer but £3.60 ain’t gonna pay for drugs surely, I remember the cheapest bit of puff you could buy was £7.50 & that was back in 1987 ?
Yeh I remember, for a teenth (1/16) Nowdays they all smoke skunk, cheapest usually tenner a gram. Smell it a mile away but one of our mates still tries to get away with smoking it in the beer gardens

Not touched anything for years, to old now. The tenner beans going about up here are coated in acid too at the moment. Although you might feel a million bucks and think your perfectly fine on them. In reality your looking like something that's came from another planet. It's not something you can do without someone noticing.

Yesterday I went into a local shop, as I was going in, there were two window cleaners doing the front windows, both in sign written shirts and I recognise the name as they're in sign written vans around the area. I went to the counter and as I was about to be served the guy behind the counter excused himself to get the window cleaner his money. He said 'how much is it?' the window cleaner hands over a slip of paper and says '£3.60'.

I know everyone has their own businesses to run and people are expensive, average and cheap but this just baffles me to the point that I thought I'd share it on here. I'm not telling anyone how to earn their money, but two people working, sign written uniforms, sign written vans, an invoice.... for £3.60? Why bother? Just baffles me the logic behind it. If you did 10 shops in a row it would still be no more than £36. You would have to do 50 shops to get to £180.

For reference this is an extremely affluent area. But you get a reputable window cleaning company cleaning windows for £3.60.

I'm just baffled at how stupid someone can be. I would never have believed someone with the image they have would charge so cheap. There comes a point where there is cheap and too cheap. They must be running around like blue arsed flies all day.
In my experience these cheap /beer money window cleaners don't last.
They tend to be unreliable and soon disappear.

Totally agree not worth getting out of bed for that . Wouldn’t consider doing a street full at that price either .

no need to price so low-course when you start off you are so desperate for money ,and a custy can smell that, its only natural. IF you can hack it keeping it low youll get busy busy which is good AT FIRST but raise price after a year . The very worst thing you can do is start of with high prices and a flashy new van, actually saw one last week like that,it was a gorgeous sunny day and its parked up on his driveway,no work. Having said that its just possible he was inside his house kicking back after just clinching a juicy contract on the phone

Typically the beer money ones don't but there is a fella in town who has been going decades charging cheap prices and one who wasn't a beer money one again going over 30 years, they survived on the "cash is king" basis in other words didn't declare all their earnings, they can and do survive albeit in low numbers.

Some people or companies go with the low price and plenty of them business model so they can dominate an area.
Nationwide where always of the low price, low quality but they dominate the retail area of window cleaning I think they’ve been sold on and changed name but they were turning over around 14million try doing them numbers with residential.

Just because they do one shop at £3 or 4 pound doesn’t mean they’re all at that that price.

I have some that are low priced due to getting given them from an old boy but even at £5-7 the money is still very good.it’s not all like that some is three figures a clean.

20-30 years ago before nationals some cleaners had nearly the whole town.

I see a lot of window cleaning vans parked up outside their house in the day time, I used to think they had no work, but now I know better, I run my round two weeks worth window cleaning per month, then two weeks Gutter cleaning or new window cleaning customers plus driveways, patios and more, i even cut grass in the summer..

I always find a few days a month to be at home and do paperwork or sort out plans for future projects or buying in or waiting for materials to be delivered, I suppose to the untrained eye who passes by at 12 noon, it looks like I am home and not working, but truth is I already did my cleans for that day and now I am on to next level planning, I am currently developing a small bit of equipment so it takes a lot of planning and getting a prototype built then there is testing so i am always busy ..

Now i know how to run my business smoothly i tend to just chill when i can, no point working too hard, there are so many window cleaners now, customers come and go like the wind, most of mine stay, but the odd one tends to drift away then return a few months later after a bad clean from another cleaner or a break from paying each month, it's cool i get new customers all the time now since i started doing ad's and paying a small fortune for it but well worth the return it brings...

even tho i take the odd day for myself, i feel like i never stop.

I really like the awkward customers the most because even tho they ask for a lot of extras they always pay on general principle they will even pay more than the average for those extras without complaint.

shop windows i will never do again, not worth the pinch purse abuse you get from some business owners.. Half the reason i stopped doing trad ppl think because your trad you should charge cheap when infact the opposite is true, if you want trad you will pay more...

they could piss it.I have some that literally take 2-3 minutes to clean.I wouldn’t clean them at £3.50 but you can fly through some.
I couldn’t be bothered to collect from each shop or invoice them for that amount of money , years ago I used to do the local Woolworths store took 15 muinits to clean but 20 muinits to find the manager and get the job signed off all for £8 that was 23 or so years ago .

There a chap I no who dominates the shops in a town locally he charges £2 for some and £15 for others that are huge he does a bit of office cleaning as well but can turn over £120 odd in 3 hours but what he does not take in to consideration is the running around on Friday collecting and dropping in invoices he does okay tho in general think he about 45k a year witch is not bad for a sole trader in his 80,s
