Cleaning solar panels

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I was sent this link regarding using dish washer liquid on solar panels. I thought it was interesting.

That is interesting Bruce we have cleaned some panels with a softwashing solution it’s not recommend by manufacturers but we did hundreds of panels for a local solar farm years ago and it didn’t cause any damage as the manufacturers regularly tested the panels as part of there on going panel development program, we have also scraped lichen off panels with a razor blade scraper and again it hasn’t affected the panel’s output but I would not suggest this way of doing it to others In case any damage was caused

From a slightly different angle, so dish soap cleaning reduces light transmission!!!! I'm saying nothing about Trad cleaning :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Sorry to anyone who does Trad, I couldn't resist.
When we did trad we left a very thin layer of soap residue on the glass, which dust stuck to. The round we bought was a trad round and was done every 2 weeks. It needed to be done every 2 weeks being in the north coast. After 4 weeks those windows were really dirty.

When we changed the round to wfp, those windows didn't need doing every 2 weeks as they were still clean. Over time they ended up scheduled every 6 weeks due to the number of 'leave it this time as they are still clean' excuses we got. They just didn't attract the dust like before.

What I got from that article was that insufficient rinsing didn't get the soap residue off which then created the issue.

We have 2 flats we clean next to each other occupied by 2 sisters. They pay us extra to wash the windows with soap. Rinsing the soap off takes quite some time.
