condensation in van

WCF

@spruce & @Pjj are the rear of your vans insulated?
I'm wondering if I have a leak somewhere that's getting into the front. I did check briefly check the carpet behind the drivers seat and that was dry but I think I will investigate this weekend. My DI vessels are a bit hidden and the van sits nose down a little, so it could be the o rings from the DI causing a slight leak, I DI after the tank - ask Streamline why :)

No just ply lined , I think using hot stops any from forming , but I rarely got any condensation in my older vans before using hot , but do make sure there are no leaks anyware .

I have the odd incident throughout a working week which I know contributes to mine reeling in the hose with an inline tap which gets caught on the rollers and water gets sprayed on the roof, not always remembering to run my hand through the brush which can drip and the odd spillage if I am transferring a 25ltr container into my tank,

I do have an old hand towel under the brushes and at the back of the van for the odd incident which I take out and dry. I also have one over the vented lid on my tank as it can leak when I drive to my first job(s) of the day.

Edit: to add to this I fill my tank on a morning so no build up of moisture on the outer of the tank overnight

The tank vent leaking on the way to the first job used to annoy me. I removed the vent and fitted a hoselok 90 degree swivel and added a hose that goes out of an old hole to under the van. So any leaks from the vent just go outside but it's still fairly easy to uncouple the hoseloc to unscrew the tank lid.

Far too technical for me, I'll stick with the old hand towel 👍

The roof of my van isn't insulated. I was going to put some stretch carpet on it this summer, but it didn't happen.
The sides of the van are ply-lined, but the floor isn't. I do have some thick rubber matting in the back, and I cut some of that gym matting tiles with holes for the front. (My van is divided into back and front, with my 650 litre tank across the middle.) My diesel heater is situated in the front section.

My Wydale tank does this. I don't tend to fill the tank more than about 75% full. I also found that a smear of Vaseline on the gasket/o ring works. It's the same when changing a spin on oil filter on the car. You have to put a thin smear of engine oil on the rubber gasket of the filter. If you don't then the rubber gasket grabs and the oil filter doesn't seal properly and tighten up.

In those times I needed to brim the tank, I also wrapped a towel around the lid.

The other place we once had a leak was at the takeoff fitting at the tank. That wasn't an easy fix, as the tank needed to be raised up, which meant undoing the frame securing bolts.

That is one good thing about the Streamline frame, the tank can be lifted within the frame - I guess it makes installation easier as the bolts at the bulkhead side can then be accessed.

Hopefully I will have a good look over the weekend to see if I have any leaks. I have noticed that my ali tapes seal for the downpipes that go through the bulkhead has failed. Actually thinking about it the ends of the downpipes are open at the cab end! Might be worth sorting a bung for them!

Cheers
