Hi

The base of one of my pole sections has splintered and extends about 5cm into the pole.

Is it possible to trim the pole and if so would this still make it useable ?

Also if it can be done what tool would be best to use.
cheers

Yes just cut off the damaged end get a new clamp sand the end of the pole down clean it with a de greaser and glue on the new clamp , obviously the handle section will be a bit shorter so a bit of the next section up won’t be in the handle but it will work fine

Thanks chaps, it’s the bottom of the pole section that’s damaged so don’t think I will need to replace the clamp ?
i don’t have a dremel tool so was going to use a hacksaw if that’s possible?

cheers

Ok yes use a hacksaw but put tape on the pole where you are going to cut it and cut through the tape and pole this will reduce the risk of the pole splintering around the cut also use a fine tooth blade not a course one , sand down after tk remove any sharp splinters , don’t breath in any dust use a mask or keep it wet whilst cutting it

I cut a carbon gutter pole in half. All I used was a battery grinder with a 1mm metal disc on it. Kept it wet and wore a dust mask because carbon dust is just as bad as asbestos.
