Hi guys

Posted under traditional too,as looking for recommended gear there but also about to buy a water fed backpack.

Read the big boy review and it looks a great kit, then seen the below spec being sold on eBay

The 'Big Boy' Backpack - 22L

With Charger & Flow Controller

Renegade 25ft Aluminium Pole

Anti-Snag 6mm Hose Tail Adapter

Angle Neck Adapter

Claber® 8mm Aquastop Hose Connector

FaceLift Phoenix 11" Lightweight Brush Head

Complete with Pencil Jets

Only concerned re pole length as wanted to do solar panels, guess can look into that later or will this reach most safely with ladders?

All for 250 quid I think,is this worth purchasing for a start up?

Chris

Just found same system on window cleaning warehouse own site at 180, or the big boy starter kit at 350 ..

Chris

if it was me,i would get your back pack and pole from gardiners pole systems.for £250ish you could get a clx pole, brush, hose and fiitings and backpack.that pole will take a toll on your shoulders day in day out

Safely with ladders?

Id get a 40 foot pole at least for panels, even that won't be enough for some jobs.

I'd get a gardiner backpack and clx pole to start with.

You'll want s sturdy sack trolley too, about £30.

Thanks Mark,

Just I'd read on here about some people using ladders to bridge the gap in height but yeah makes sense to get a larger pole to start with!

where do you think would be best to buy these parts and any particular models?

Chris

I've been told by a reliable source that a 60ft pole is required to do Solar panel work comprehensively I've ditched the idea for the moment until I get some assurances on safety.

I have a 55ft pole and have not been able to do some panels from the ground with it.

Dont get a alloy pole mate, spend a bit more if you can on a good carbon pole, its well worth the investment and will pay dividends as you grow. Check out Xline Systems, they do some great poles at all budgets.

That'd decided then guys,

Now have my unger kit ordered for traditional cleaning and after some working/practice I will get a minimum 55 foot pole and wf kit for awkward jobs/solar work

Cheers

There is an edge FaceLift 55 foot pole which I can get with the big boy waterfed back pack start up kit, all in for 999. This seemed a good price for a carbon pole that is originally around 750 alone. Any thoughts on a cheaper alternative to this though? Cheers

Aye seen that Mark, it's around 660 and so taking off the big boy deal price from the £999 deal this 55 foot one is around the same!

I know 99% on here go for gardeners & that's fine.

But I got that big boy backpack deal & got the Phoenix 18ft pole with it & it is light as anything. I've used it for hours on end & it's brilliant. And I'm no big bloke.

Each to there own & that's fine but the Phoenix is a very good pole as is the backpack. I can't comment on a gardiners pole as neve had one but the Phoenix facelift one I have & it's a good pole.

It won't reach 3rd storey tho.

I like gardiners,i also use the phoenix 18ft full carbon on my domestic work.excellent pole-nearly worn out though.they don't do an 18ft with these clamps now,its a shame love the clamps.my next 18footer will be a slx.will take the stop tape off so the sections will be like the phoenix and convert it to one of exceeds kits, happy days

You'll hear it creaking if you take the stop tape off. Mr G now sells decent tape that doesn't get churned up as easily.

Window cleaning warehouse has the big boy deal with 30 foot pole at around £450. Maybe that's also a more sensible entry point into waterfed, rather than jumping in at 60 foot poles? That 30 foot will reach townhouses and third story no issue yeah? And occasional solar panel?
