Gardiner Xtreme 47 vs Gardiner Ultimate high reach pole

Hi mates,

First of all, excuse for my English, I am not from English-spoken country.

I want to compare between these poles. Do somebody use them?

I need to work up to 80 ft. I need it for an employer team, that cleans industrial buildings.

Is X-treme works good above 70 ft. I will need to use a lot of extensions.

Are Extension sections of Xtreme compatible with Ultimate? (The cost of Ultimate is high, I think to save money and buy Ultimate pole and less expensive extension section of Xtreme.

id go for extreeme and to be honest working at 70 ft is extreemly uncomfortable and bad for your health so your better off hiering cherry picker

Hi Yakir,

We have tested the Ultimate on the Dutch cleaning show.

The 46ft

It is a great pole, little heavier then the Xtreme, but very rigid.

If you want to clean regular at 70ft i think the Ultimate will be THE pole.

It looks to me that you can add the hs #10 extensions for the Ultimate, but i'm sure the Ultimate extensions with control bars will be the best choose and much easier of use

Hi Yakir

The Xtreme pole will reach these heights when used with all 6 of the HS extensions. However the new (being released in 6 days time) Ultimate will be a more rigid and robust option for such heights.

The Xtreme pole with 6x HS extensions would cost - £1991

The Ultimate with all 14 section and Control Bars would be £2695

The Ultimate would be the easiest to use being fully telescopic in design, it is also the most rigid at these heights, however the Xtreme would be lighter by about half a kilo.

The HS extensions section from the Xtreme will fit on to the Ultimate pole, but will obviously mean that it becomes partially modular in design.

You have hit the nail on the head - most questions have been asked and answered many times now. The UK Water-Fed pole market has become far better educated and advised in recent years, due in part to the work of the Forums, this has meant that many questions get answered by other knowledgeable forum posters. This means I can make less posts than previously - however I am never far away!

Cleaning at 70ft can be just as accurate and can give just as good results as cleaning at 40ft, however the technique needs to be spot on.

It is harder to see all of the dirt at this height so the method employed has to be more thorough and careful. It is not for the faint-hearted though as a 70ft pole can take a lot to control . Working at such heights is best worked up to gradually with practice at 50ft, then 60ft before tackling a 70ft high job.

Is it possible? I need it not for regular work, but for some fancy building with strange glass spikes in height 80 ft.

Sounds an interesting building.

We would not recommend fitting more than 6 HS extensions to a pole - however it is possible to do so.

The stiffest version is the full 14 section telescopic ultimate - with the HS modular extension fitted it will not be quite as rigid, although still workable with.

There is a bit on page 2 of this interview with Jeff which is interesting about how a pole and brush interact at height. Probably why someone suggested using a modified T bar.

I am disappointed. Could you explain how you see the work process with these bars, please?

Example: I have to work with 74 feet pole.

Option 1: I need do attach and detach 3 sets of the bars every time I want to build the full pole. (On these heights it can be up to 5 times in day. I have to work with screwdriver in my pocket all the day.

Option 2: I attach the Bars and work always with 3 sets of the bars on the pole. It will increase the weight of the pole. That is the weight of the Bars?

These control bars were originally developed purely for using with the full 14 section 74ft pole. They are not strictly needed for the 64ft or 46ft versions as the handle diameter is narrower, however we decided to make them for those that wanted the option if only buying a 64ft or 46ft version.

So if wanting to work at 74ft have the control bars fitted to the #14 section and work. At heights between 74ft - 64ft you will be able to telescopically lower the bottom sections as needed. If you want to save weight when working below 64ft then the bottom two section (#13 & #14) can be slid off (complete with control bars) and you can then work with the 12 section 64ft pole - control bars are not strictly needed for this pole as its diameter is less. If you did want to get a another set of control bars for these you would need the #12 control bars and once fully assembled they could be slid on to the 12 section pole when removing the higher sections and would slide on and tighten in place in less than 1 minute if really needed.

The weight of the largest control bars is about 1200g, but this weight is not really noticed on the pole as it is being held in your hands and is not contributing to the leverage effect.
