Got myself a bargain RODI. 001 TDS - how to get to 000?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I grabbed myself a 200GPD RODI from eBay only a few months old. Plus a load of free resin all for £35.

Getting 001 on the TDS. Changed the resin to get that. Any ideas how to reduced to 000? Maybe new filters? What do you guys think?

Sounds to me as though you got what you paid for. Did you get free postage as well??

Why did the previous owner sell it only after a few months of ownership?  And then to have a load of free resin thrown in as well. That would have started alarm bells ringing in my head tbh.

When buying equipment for wfp I have found that you need to buy the right product that works the best or you will always be on the back foot.

Personally, a 200gpd r/o is way to small if you are going to go wfp seriously.

You have given the forum no real information to work with regarding your problem. Info needed would be:

What is your tap water TDS? (Isn't Wiltshire a hard water area?)

And as @Part Timerhas also stated; what is the tap water pressure?

What is the TDS of the pure as it leaves the membranes (before di). On a new r/o with quality US manufactured membrane/s you can expect your r/o to remove about 97 - 98% of the dissolved solids in the water. Chinese manufactured membranes aren't as efficient, but they are cheaper.

What is your pure to waste ratio when producing water?

What di vessel have you got to 'polish' the water off?

What make is the resin you have?

Is your TDS meter reading correctly?

Changing prefilters would be a good idea as you don't know their history. However, changing prefilters will not make any difference to your output TDS.

As the old salesmen's song goes;

The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the joy of a low price.

Whilst I don't know what your window cleaning business is all about (only you know that) I would stick that r/o back on Ebay and buy a bigger one that is better suited to window cleaning.
