hi was wondering if anyone has cleaned windows using WFP with snow or ice on the ground ?

do they moan or cancel ? or is there any other type of problems ?

i usually don't go out but money is running out stopping in for days on end with no sign of this bad weather ending i was thinking of giving it a try .

would love some feedback guys !!

I've cleaned windows with a wfp the day after it had snowed with no probs. The only issue u may have is the hose laying on the floor freezing, I personally didn't have that problem and the Windows came up fine, the temperature had gone above freezing just though, although there was still snow on the ground. Good luck mate

I was out on Wednesday morning and it was freezing, I was using my Gardiners pole but had no end of trouble with the pole hose freezing so I packed up and got the ladder out, done one window and felt it was unsafe in the conditions so I got my old streamline pole out to give that a go.. never had a problem with it as the pole hose is much better insulated.

I'm ordering some new streamline lite 5 pole hose for my Gardiners pole now.

cheers guys , much appreciate the input , i did try once years ago when my pole hose froze to and have never tried since really .

do you find the customer moan or pull faces when you turn up ? or have they let you clean them and cancel you next time ?

So relating to this old thread a little - what if it’s freezing and say I’m cleaning a upvc front door, and water is now all over the customers floor/porch area, that could freeze and turn into a mini ice rink. This ever a problem?

As kids we would purposely throw water on the floor in the evening to freeze over night to ‘play on’ the following day…..

I personally prefer to use a microfibre cloth and spray water lightly onto the glass then buff with cloth. Maybe give the door a quick wipe over to. Just dont like the look of rock salt scattered over the ground. Just looks a bit messy in my opinion.
The trouble is these days some windys don't carry cloths, I have old cut up towels which I use to clean my hose I carry one on me all of the time I won't wfp front doors at all in freezing conditions or if they are forecast through the night and temps have started dropping in the afternoon a dry cloth will do the job just fine as it's usually only once a year that they'll get cleaned like this.

We're the same as if you put grit down and the customer then walks it into their house you won't be popular.

Have some grit to chuck on the floor by front/back door if its really cold & warn them.
If you've got the good stuff that is white and melts away that might be fine but the brown or grey coloured stuff is horrible and gets everywhere

The cheap stuff is horrible as it's not pure salt, but if a customer has a very nice carpet and aren't one for taking their shoes off it may cause potential issues

I learnt my lesson just on our own driveway last year or the year before I could only get the cheap nasty stuff and it was always get in the house.

changed to wfp about the same time this thread was made
Only had about 5 days off due to ice and snow in all that time
Do doors trad and any lower windows that may leave a puddle in a dodgy place and the odd top window that may leave a slip hazard like in the alley between front and back of house in the shade and won’t evaporate it only takes a few seconds to get my trad pole out and whip over the window that way
Wfp is not always the way sometimes

Weather forecast North East Milder from Thursday for a few days then Dropping again after that. Those days are now planned as Full days working incase thats it for 2022
Good Luck everyone
