You could have just wrapped up and gone out
Just finished and done all the days work except one who is away and obviously no heating on so conny wanted to freeze
Only -1 now

I started at half 8 which was a mistake.
Driving through to Bromley my dash was reading -8!!
Pole froze, then I had to use my trolley for one awkward job, that froze ??
Went to the cafe and bumped into my brother in law. Breakfast and chit chat then started again at 10am while it was still -3.
Froze a bit at the bottom of patio doors but ok.
Going to watch the bbc London weather later and if it’s -8 again, cobblers to work.
Lovely long weekend and earlier to the pub ??

I started at 830am on a commercial job and it was -9!no problems apart from a partial freeze up on some windows, then I cleaned a large house next door...again no problems....then when I was reeling in I noticed my pump dead ending!I must of had a bit of ice in my hose as I couldn't get it to work,no kinks,no calibration would solve it so i nipped home, put a heater in the back and had early lunch.45 mins later my hose had thawed and I finished my day's work

Off til Monday now, tank filled, batteries on charge, worksheets downloaded and slips printed!

Enjoy the weekend chaps!?

You'll knacker your suspension amongst other things having over 500kg sitting in your van over the weekend is not a good idea at all.

Really? Why you say this? I leave my van fully loaded every night. Not a morning person so find it easier doing it after work then parking up, rather than try to get out early enough to do it before. Surely if the van isn’t overweight it can handle it?

That's what the manufacturers of your van say. However, Fiat have been rejecting claims on saggy rear suspension on motorhomes as the convertors didn't order a 3500kg van with upgraded springs to hold the continuous weight of a motor home. This has left owners with little choice but to pay for replacement springs.

My previous van was a swb Citroën Relay with monoleaf springs at the back. One of those springs broke, so I replaced both with leaf springs suitable for motorhomes. My van sat up at the rear like the A Team's van did. Within 3 or 4 years, my van was sitting roughly level, so even those heavy-duty springs sagged with time. We don't run with full payload capacity all the time, but I try to leave my tank as empty as possible at the end of each day and fill up in the morning. That's just my preference.

I'm sitting with half a tank at the moment. I haven't been out for the last 2 days. If this was the end of next week, I would drain the tank down, as I'm not working the last week of December.

Many years ago, we had a plumber's Citroën Dispatch in the workshop with a warranty claim on the rear suspension. Citroën weren't interested as the van was loaded to capacity and according to them, it wasn't designed for that weight on a continuous basis, even though the van was just on its payload limit. I'm pretty certain that most of us run pretty close to full payload limit at sometime during the day, but as we use water, that weight comes off.

If you find what you do is best, then that's fine. We all make choices, and some of those choices might come at a cost. If you drive your van fast, for example, then it will cost more in brake repairs than say someone who drives more sedately.

Why will I knacker the suspension?I've been doing this for nearly 6 years now in this van and it's fine(the van is just used for work).I always fill up my tank at the end of the day ready for my next days work whether its 2 days away or 2 weeks.the van sits on the drive with a full tank!?

That crossed my mind. I always fill my van in the mornings unless the conditions are how they are now because of heating the water ??‍?
An old mate of mine who is a former mechanic and car mad has always warned me about leaving such a weight in the van or previously my L200's which had a payload of over 1,000kg when I had a 400ltr tank, I fill my van every night just because it's more practical for me but I wouldn't fill the tank on a Thursday or Friday ready for the following week.
