Has Anyone Tried Working With Snow & Ice With Wfp ?

BS...who told you that??
Just like you have always been convinced that you won't knacker your DPF by sitting with your van running for 30 minutes a day while you have a break things aren't bullet proof or infinite,

You've been lucky on the whole, my former mechanic mate told me about a lad who he works with who decided to overload his car with bags of gravel within a day or so he said something didn't feel right my mate told him to get it to a garage asap I can't recall what they found wrong with it but it was serious and he could have ended up in an accident

We aren't talking a small amount of weight with us wfpers we are taking in excess of 500kg this is a serious amount of weight, my first L200 I sold it when it was 4 years old with low mileage within a year we checked its MOT status it had serious advisories on it for the leaf springs and something else they have a 1,200kg payload it must have been completely abused for them to feck it up as bad as it was.

Why will I knacker the suspension?I've been doing this for nearly 6 years now in this van and it's fine(the van is just used for work).I always fill up my tank at the end of the day ready for my next days work whether its 2 days away or 2 weeks.the van sits on the drive with a full tank!?
Constantly having the van with a lot of weight in it will not do it any good long term yes it’s designing carry weight but not 24/7

That's what the manufacturers of your van say. However, Fiat have been rejecting claims on saggy rear suspension on motorhomes as the convertors didn't order a 3500kg van with upgraded springs to hold the continuous weight of a motor home. This has left owners with little choice but to pay for replacement springs.

My previous van was a swb Citroën Relay with monoleaf springs at the back. One of those springs broke, so I replaced both with leaf springs suitable for motorhomes. My van sat up at the rear like the A Team's van did. Within 3 or 4 years, my van was sitting roughly level, so even those heavy-duty springs sagged with time. We don't run with full payload capacity all the time, but I try to leave my tank as empty as possible at the end of each day and fill up in the morning. That's just my preference.

I'm sitting with half a tank at the moment. I haven't been out for the last 2 days. If this was the end of next week, I would drain the tank down, as I'm not working the last week of December.

Many years ago, we had a plumber's Citroën Dispatch in the workshop with a warranty claim on the rear suspension. Citroën weren't interested as the van was loaded to capacity and according to them, it wasn't designed for that weight on a continuous basis, even though the van was just on its payload limit. I'm pretty certain that most of us run pretty close to full payload limit at sometime during the day, but as we use water, that weight comes off.

If you find what you do is best, then that's fine. We all make choices, and some of those choices might come at a cost. If you drive your van fast, for example, then it will cost more in brake repairs than say someone who drives more sedately.
Thanks for explaining this mate. I’ll keep it in mind and stop leaving it over the weekend (not that I do often). But still think I’ll leave it overnight as I would end up always running late otherwise ?

Ironically enough I bought an old Renault kangoo when I first went wfp and I snapped the torsion suspension bar going over a speed bump and this is BEFORE I put a water tank in the back(the van was empty!)??

Work that one out!it was fine when I had water in it.

It's like when people say you have to put speedliner/protectacote down or your van floor will rot!never ever had a problem and even now I still flood my van occasionally....?
Vans are meant to be abused!

I honestly can't be arsed filling up in the mornings or even Sunday evenings for that matter(only the odd occasion when I've cleaned on a sunday)
