I'm a traditional window cleaner, I have just bought a pole reach starter kit by Hunger, my 6L resin bag has lasted for 400ltrs of water before the TDS reading has gone above 9ppm,

our tap water reads 460 ppm before filtering .These 6L resin bags cost £40 with postage ! I just cannot justify going to pole reach with this overhead every 2-3 weeks.any advice plz.

460 ppm you need to get an ro .. resin only will kill you

yes I looked on national readings for hard water & unfortunately Suffolk has v/hard water lol.Fnx for advice as who likes profit going down the drain...

For the amount of water you are using you could get a small 450gpd ro for around 170 quid

Few hundred litre tank to store it in and you are away

Resin would last absolutely ages as you would be running under 10ppm through it

Depends if that is the unger thingie you use from customers tap or not

If so you would have to change how you work and get a pump and reel etc or gardiner backpack to use and use the unger doofer as your di vessel to make water into a storage tank

My TDS Is 140-175. I bought myself a 500L tank and found that an 11L vessel was lasting just over 2 tanks, that was basically £4 a tank which adds up pretty quickly.

£40 for one resin bag is ridiculous. First thing I would do is see if there is a way to safely open the bag and refill it myself. If this was a no go then Screwfix sell a 4 pack for  £120 which will help short term;

Longer term you do need an RO system. I have just got one and can't claim to be an RO expert by any stretch of the imagination but I have seen the savings already. Have a look at this thread;



It might answer a lot of RO questions you may have. Seems to me that its like chess, takes minutes to learn and a lifetime to master haha.
