you must have some serious back problems if you get pain from cleaning that window with a pole sideways on.......

cheers for replies everyone. I bought a Phoenix 35 and can now clean it by using the top of the roof to take some of the weight of the pole, when cleaning front on. My back could not handle tackling this from the side!

Granted I don't know how your back is, but cleaning from the front will strain your back more, than cleaning from the side that extension I think was possibly a former garden room and has had a Guardian pre-fab roof fitted to it I would be cautious of marking the roof with your pole and the client making a complaint if I was you. 

Certain jobs can have you stumped until you try different ways, I would take a bit more time next time you are there to see what works best without risking injury to yourself or damage to the property. ?
