WCF

Help Support WCF:

If only abseilers knew they could save a fortune on expensive rope and anchors, by just using wfp hose and a car tyre, despite how much u pull it dosent move when it’s under

I must have got it caught on every car today, and it was bin day so had the delights of wheelie bins

One of the window cleaning suppliers used to sell a product called Slip 'n Slide/s

I've done a quick google but can't find a supplier. Maybe someone else knows of one.

I've always been amazed at how hose is attracted to wheelbin wheels and car tyres.

One of my older customers was into rock climbing as a youngster. He once said to me that knowing what he knows now he would design an SLCD (spring loaded camming device) that looked like a 13amp electrical plug.  He says it would have made him a fortune. When winding in his electrical extention cable that plug hooks up on everything.?

I brought some slip-slides when I first started, never used them. I’ve seen someone use a roses/quality street/ hero’s tub cut in half which achieves the same results- plus you have an excuse to eat chocolates!!!!

We used them for a bit to begin with as well. They worked well for around the corner of a wall but I was always concerned that if I used it around a car tyre the car owner would exit the house via the front door and try to drive off whilst I was working around the back.

I think wcw sell them. I never really saw the point of them as the time used to set them up and move them around etc isn’t much different than the time spent on getting snagged. Maybe on your own van when using a fixed reel and dragging the hose out at tight angles. Also when youve cleaned certain property’s numerous times you get accustomed to the usual snagging points and with a little thought into parking positions and hose placement you can avoid most snags in the first place.

In my book the worst of the worst is house corners where there is a slight gap below the cladding. If the cladding is metal it can tear a nice hole in the hose.

I am contemplating building one off corner brackets in wood, add some double sided tape and stick them on the offending corners permanently. For commercial buildings i don't think anyone would mind really.

I did this a few months ago. Ended up stripping 2’ of the outer layer clean off my minibore. [emoji35]

Yeh I’ve taken off the top layer of my microbore as well. Was caught on the corner of sharp brickwork on a house, was caught right between the bricks. Took off a bit about a inch long about 20metres in!! 9/12 months later it’s still fine. But I’m sure it’ll split at the worst possible moment! ?

Ye, last time it happened to me it lasted well over a year and then in the middle of a hot summers day the inner layer bubbled out like a balloon and eventually popped. Always best to carry spares and tools in the van just in case.
