John guest onto shurflo pump

Maybe you could help @Alex Gardiner. I bought 2 of these http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/john-guest-fittings/1-2-fittings/john-guest-a-push-in-fitting-to-a-female-screw-bsp-thread-socket.html thinking I could screw onto my pump and slot onto my half inch reinforced hose to my reel. It doesn't fit . What would I need to buy?

I think you will need a reducer.

I'm guessing the fitting is too big?

You need a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer.

Hose is too big for the push fit and the screw thread didn't seem to want to screw on. I wasn't going to force the thread incase I knackered the thread on the pump.

Is it the rigid push fit hose that your using? Like the stuff Alex sells?

You can't use normal reinforced hose as it's still too floppy.

I use john guest 15mill speed fit on all my connections now.

Not sure I'm coming across clearly. I want to screw a JG to my pump and slot the half inch reinforced hose into it and then the other end of that hose goes to my hozelock on the reel.

I think I understand you, but can't work out why it's not working for you.

This is my set up to the pump, I have the john guest 1/2 inch from gardiners, then on the out of my boiler I have the 15mill john guest speed fit which goes to my reel. View attachment 3687

Do you have the same type of hose as me in the picture? That's the hose you need, and it's not compatible with hoselock.

Shurflo pumps have a male 1/2" NPT Thread - this should allow the John Guest BSP female thread fittings you have bought to screw on as others have shown in the photos.

Then to connect your 1/2" reinforced hose to this you would need some of these 1/2" stem to barb adapters - http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/john-guest-fittings/1-2-fittings/a-john-guest-stem-to-a-barb.html

Gotcha Mr G. Jonathan's hose is obviously half inch O/D.
