Got home today plugged in my bilge pump, nothing.

Luckily I have a spare so used that.

The one that wasn’t pumping is making a purring noise so isn’t stone dead, any suggestions?

The thing that bothers me is i only ordered this from @Alex Gardiner 15 months ago and already it’s failed (how long is the gaurantee Alex please?)

My last one that I got from Varitech lasted over 8 years!

As I said I have the spare as I ordered 2 from @Alex Gardiner, but obviously concerned how long the spare is going to last.

Heres a picture of the pump below

Hi Steve

These come with a 1 year warranty, although Submersible pumps usually last for many years in our window cleaning application as they rarely run for longer than a few minutes at a time.

It may be worth checking if the fuse in the plug has blown?

Also has it recently got frozen? This could have affected its lifespan and operation.

good point Alex, how does WFP operators keep their tanks & hoses from freezing in weather like this?

Hi Alex. It’s not the fuse as it still makes a noise when I plug it in.

Theres no chance of it freezing as my ibc tank is in my garage which is part of the extension of the house so never that cold in there.

Are these pumps serviceable?

I’ve got a Hoselock, works fine and is at leat 4 years old. Also got a silverline that I use to empty rainwater butts, that works for about 5 minuets then cuts out for about 20 - useless thing!
