It's interesting how some windows look shiny from a distance, until you're close up and they're grubby. Get a lot of this when canvassing. Different angle of sunlight and all that shizzle.

For £16 a bottle and treating 25 thousand litres of drink if it wasn't making the glass worse I'd be prepared to use it on the off chance it might work, something to tell the customers as well when they ask what's in the mix? Could be a good selling point the old "magic water" even if it's BS some will take it in so why not at the end of the day it costs &*!$ all when you break it down.

Looking at it from a sales pitch point of view I think that firm has a brilliant marketing strategy and I’m sure they will pick up loads of work off other cleaners at a top dollar prices too... So fare play to them I say.

I'm affraid to say you had your chance to save losing their custom but blew it simply by not offering what they wanted.

At least im guessing its vision, any other additives it could be?
Went to a custies this morning, (big house decent paying job but never pay online and always have to chase for brass)

Missus comes out as i pull up, can you wait 2 mins my husbands on his way home he wants to speak to you, ok....anyway he gets there says weve had a free clean from this company (massive company) and they used an additive in the water and we think its done a better job, windows look shinier etc.

I told them its something ive heard of but debated whether its any good or not. Custie insisted it was a better shine especially on the conny where it gets a lot of light. He said there perfectly clean when youve been they just dont have this shine.

Anyway he asked if i could do the same, i said to be honest no its not worth me buying and experimenting for one custie besides ive none on me now anyway. He said can you leave it and i will let you know what the wife wants to do later.

I said (after advice on here about taking no *****) no thanks ill leave it to the other company.

Now, im a bit gutted as it was one of my best priced jobs however i never liked doing them as they were fussy so meh..

I was a bit annoyed theyd been trying another company out in the first place, i get the feeling theyre just fussy people with too much money and didnt really appreciate getting turned away, why they couldnt have rang me to let me know ive no idea.

BUT got me thinking about using an additive, vision or whatever, would you guys consider using something in the same situation? or should i just forget about it and carry on with just pure?

A bit harsh there Smurf. Was OP supposed to doff his cap and say that he'll go out and buy 'Vision' just to keep custy happy? Look at how many shiners advertise using only 'pure' water to clean. What would custy say if they were lead to believe all chemicals were taken out and one put back in? They'll be asking you to dry it off next.

It's called an added value service as that firm is offering something that he don't which is known as simply as customer added value.

I wasnt about to go buy some vision just to please 1 customer, to be honest if he was letting someone else give him a free clean and turning me away on the day i have no intention of doing them anyway even if he does change his mind.

But yes good marketting, the company in question are HUGE and cover leeds, manchester, sheffield, doncaster and much more, i think they have a london base as well.

In essence @Smurf you are 100% right. But you can't fit in with every customer's demands though. Maybe the guy next door doesn't want that fancy additive in the water that is used to clean his windows because it may kill his plants/fish etc. (We have had that with a customer whose koi fish pond is directly under the front lounge and bedroom windows.)

The Australians have an excellent expression which sums the situation up to a T mate. You're buggered if you do and you're buggered if you don't.

If this company is canvassing in the area then I might order a bottle of vision and use it for a while. If they are winning customers then you probably may have to join them until the threat has diminished. Use it for 3 or 4 months and then let it fizzle out. Then if another example comes up, then you can say that you use it and find no difference. Then the seed of doubt can be sown - " They have been trying to buy customers business with a free clean and fancy additive in the water, but once they have secured your business, they will put the price up as they have done to others. But most have seen through those tactics."

That's the power of the interweb as you can easily make out your a big firm when you're not.

Have you tried clicking on their free clean offer? /emoticons/smile.png It doesn't work for me.

And the bird poo video is hyperbole as well. Why not show a baked/hardened wax poo? Of course, it's all for effect.

I've had a good look at the testimonials. Some of the names seem made up.

stick a similar offer through there custies doors ....sounds like crap custies anywhere ....get rid of the chaff

definately a big company, their base is not too far from me and ive seen at least 6 vans parked up there. I see their vans all over, all brand new.

Also, i once applied for a job with them about 2 years ago when i was thinking of starting out, they were taking on dole people on 2 week non paid trials, minimum wage plus the first clean of any you canvassed, apparently they had lads doing loads of overtime like 12 hour days. The guy who took me for the interview said it was his sons business and he wanted to go massive.

@adamangler uve seen how easy it is to canvas and build a round with a litttle effort

say a round of 5000 homes on 4 weekly is achievable if u have a bit of funding the right people and the drive to get u there

brand new van and new system could set ya back 20,000 but i say they have there fleet on hp / lease
