That's why I have clear filter housings so you can see when the sediment filter needs changing at a glance
I have clear. Only issue is I forget to turn the garage light off and on occasion they have grown a little algae. I have a meter that measures the input and change my filters almost religiously, 25k for sediment, 75k for carbon. I would likely have been better with the solid ones instead.

Leaving the light on isn't as bad as flooding the van ?

I have fluctuating issues with sediment so a clear housing is better for me as they will almost never last to the spec of processed litres things ain't so bad at the moment but last summer I could be changing a sediment filter every week if I was lucky I'd get 2 weeks out of one.

The sediment in our water is also very hit-and-miss. It's got a little better of late, but at one I would have to replace my sediment filter twice before changing the carbon block.

Late autumn through into the early summer I think we will all be fine but with less rainfall year on year and much drier summers that's when I find and I think lots of us may find moving forward we have greater sediment issues.

14 new reservoirs were/are proposed to be built in England and everyone is opposed by locals and MPs in those areas we have the means to solve the issues we face but as usual, it's the not-in-our-backyard lot putting a stop to it the water companies want to build these reservoirs but it's madness that they are been stopped if the Government can run rough shot over other things in the name of progress then they should be doing the same with this issue because river beds are been drained dry in Summer due to the high demand of water usage with the ever-growing population.

Everyone changing to wfp and Spotless opening up. Would be good if we could return the waste water.

Return the waste water to where?
I have a burn next to me so I could return it to there. Return to a big tank and re-use it with a booster pump. TDS will be doubled but no sediment nor chlorine. If your water rates keep rising then someone will come up with an idea to re-use it even if its just for washing and flushing the toilet. I imagine. Apparently big server units are opening up all over England and they need massive amounts of electricity and water to cool them down. Panorama was saying London has nearly 100 of them and you don't tend to notice them because they look like industrial units, the giveaway is big fans outside them. With folk not deleting their stuff on mobiles then the world needs more and more servers until they realise that's not the answer, the answer is to automatically delete old files after 10 years rather than build more server stations. After the program I realised England and Irelands water rates will rise exponentially because the demand is going through the roof.

Hartlepool draws water from wells. The tds is high to begin with. They have a couple of industrial estates where some industry requires soft water. I was told that the council has water softeners (r/o units) on the supply to the industrial estate and returns the waste water back into the water supply, making their water even worse.

there's a big Fujitsu unit not far from me with massive fans and external backup genies, I saw in the news, they have put a server pop in a leisure center the machine itself is as big as a washing machine and is cooled by oil & that oil is run through a heat exchanger that heats the pool & its ended up covering 60% of the cost of heating the pool to 30c, using any sort of energy creates heat it's about time they started looking at turning it back into energy
