How did altering the clip on the BOAB go?

my workers said Great ! when i showed off the new mod , but then could find nowhere handy in my van to stand their boabs upright with mop n squeegee in . iv said that in the xmas break i will make up a stand of sorts.

till then the boabs are staying attached to the belts

[we currently hang the workbelts complete with boab etc on a line of coat hooks fitted high up on the van interior ]

View attachment 3394 iv also done a small mod to the belt loop that clips to the boab itself . about halfway up the loop iv put a rivet thru both sides of the material . this raises the whole set up higher by about 2 inches as it reduces the loop size by half

. the loop as original is very big ,too big

over the xmas break i plan to make a few small holders from leather or possibly canvas to go on my workers belts . to hold small size wagtail squeegees . this is because i dont see anything the exact right size on the market . iv already bought a pack of 150 rivets from china couple of quid
im also going to look into adapting the quick releases on my pulex boab, as original this boab hangs way too low . after seeing a vid by a MR SANCHEZ , i lashed the quick release down to base of boab to raise it all up [ you have to see vid below to see what i mean > [media]

Brilliant idea:thumbsup:

Yes the ergotec stuff is good. I use the belt, but it always works down lower and lower, so i added the braces to it and its now great. I don't have to do it up tight to hold it anymore, as now the braces hold the weight of it all. Much more comfy.

I realised later that I had shortened the opposite clip, it's been such a long time since I did it. To store them upright I got a strong plastic box from where I worked at the time, about 30cm wide x 40cm long and about 25cm deep. I got a broom handle and cut it to fit inside and across the box, drilled and screwed from the outside each end, this held them vertically. then I cut down a piece of downpipe and screwed that in to keep them seperated. they will not (cannot) fall over. If you want I'll do you a photo.

yes please [the foto] theres not much room in my van ,its a Partner, fitted in the back with 2 recliner seats ,belts etc for 2 workers [ these originally were front seats from a Fiat panda ] behind these seats sit my buckets and scrim etc . but i think might just be enough room for a box like u describe

Not that it should be a priority but how do the braces look while on, any pics? Ive seen wagga in them with overalls on in a video. :hey::laugh:

You can hide them in this weather under yer jumper or coat if it bothers you that much./emoticons/biggrin.png

I look a right twit
But would not be without them.

i know that the lighter the gear, the less you carry= the more houses you can do in a day . i can remember a few years ago i took to wearing a watch on my wrist- so i could write the exact time of a clean on my slips [ seems crazy but many folk would doubt i had been and cleaned ,"i was in all morning and he didnt come then....dont pay him Ron " but a timed written proof reassured them somewhat that id been on the afternoom

but i only wore the watch for a day! although just an average watch, the weight of it killed my wrist .

Here as requested is my BOAB storage solution.View attachment 3401

The first one shows how it was when I had a lad working for me, and they were stored in my van. then there's one of the box (empty), with the broom handle and plastic from the downpipe. Then one showing the BOAB in the box. These boxes have come from where I worked, they are for industrial use and are virtually indestructible, so I don't know if you can buy them. But I think you'll be able to get some sort of suitable box if you look around. Once you got the broom handle and the plastic retainer, you can set yours up to suit you. The fourth pic shows my belt clip for the BOAB that has been shortened on the belt, the other is a original. I have always found that the webbing type belts tend to collapse and go thin, so I recently bought this stout leather one for a fiver, which fits perfectly. Let me know how you get on with the box.
