I need to replace my pole hose as it’s seen better days. I currently have ex-ceed innovations blue pole hose which I got when I got my univalve. It’s been fine but its £12.99 for 10 metres, whilst it’s not exactly expensive I can get 30 metres from gardiners for almost the same price.

I went with ex-ceed stuff as they recommend with for use with the univalve as it is flexible but doesn’t stretch when you pull on it to operate the valve.

The question is will the gardeners stuff do the same job? I don’t have any experience with it but looks like a better deal, I like the green too ?

You have to be careful with Exceed. I have just replaced the blue with the yellow. I was assured it was the same in its make up, just a different colour. It isn’t imo. I used to be able to stand on the hose and stop the flow with warm water, can’t get the yellow to do this. It may bed in, I don’t know.

Why do we need to be careful with Exceed?

TBH we have still got Exceed's orange and red hose that we got in the early Aquadapter days. It also works fine with the Univalve. I've just checked back and the hose was purchased on the 5th September 2011 and we are still using it. Yes, the orange colour has faded in the sun a little but it still works like it did when we first fitted it.

We have never experienced Exceed's hose (or its predecessor) having seen better days.

The blue hose was considered better than the orange hose. Guess I will never find out as I still have a roll of the orange in my office. At this rate, I'm sure it will still be there when I'm long since gone.

Hi @spruce I to had aquadapers many years back.

I tried their red pole hose, and IMO, it’s the worst hose I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried many.

That red stuff was just about manageable with hot (which I think it was designed for), but if using warm or cold, it was like wrestling with an anaconda

We use blue exceed hose very good stuff and also ionics orange hose is very good especially with hot water , don’t like the Gardiners pole hose found it kinks badly

I use Gardiner’s green PU hose with a Univalve in a 25 foot pole and have no issues with it. I used to use ExCeed’s blue but found that due to it’s slightly harder makeup that it would twist up more readily in use. This is not too much of an issue if you keep on top of it whilst working but if you don’t it quickly becomes a trip hazard. That was my reason for trying the green one from Gardiner’s.

The green one, like any PU hose takes a little time too settle in but once it has it is much better at laying flat. This can be helped along by running very hot water through it, then whilst hot and flexible laying it flat out and letting it go cold before recoiling it.

I use rhino pole hose which I brought off exceed, with my univalve, Mega expensive stuff but had it ages now and no complaints even in the mega heat of the summer I could still turn it on and off ok. but when is was over 30 degrees it was a little struggle admitted.

We got drawn into the red hose when they first launched it for hot Steve. If I remember we were sold it at a reduced price when Paul worked there on condition we gave feedback on how we found it. I found it OK so I ordered another roll of it as we were going hot soon afterwards. I've also got a roll of red in the office as well. We never went hot in the end although its still a future plan. 3 of our poles (SLX40, SLX22 and SLX25) have the orange hose. We have another SLX22 with a flocked brush, an old Aquadapter and red hose which we use for customers with leaded windows. The brush also has fan and pencil jets. We can choose which jets we want to use for the job and swap the connection as required. So ... I must never start a sentence with so although I was tempted......?

We coil these hoses up each time we put them back in the van. So before we couple them up to start cleaning we uncoil them. It takes a few seconds but we've got used to doing it.

Many complain about the hose not laying flat on the ground. I've never understood that as I use it to my advantage. I just scoop the brush under a coil and lift it up. It saves bending down every time to pick the hose up.

I've only used Exceed's hose since we purchased the MK1 Aquadapter.

I still also prefer the action of the Aquadapter over the Univalve. I would like the spring on the Univalve to be a little 'softer'. My old hands are getting a bit arthritic with age and pulling on that hose with the Univalve is getting more difficult.

I’ve still got two aquadapters in my garage. Good bit of kit, although the springs did occasionally snap

Thanks for all the input.

I spoke with gardiners about which size tail hose for their green hose as it’s a 5.5mm hose. They queried what I was using it for as the green hose is quite specialised and only useful for certain applications, those applications were not elaborated on though. The orange is apparently more suited for use with a uni valve, I don’t think gardiners are a fan of univalves though.

So to be safe I just went with exceed hose again, I know it works well.

Univalves work best with a hose that has less flexibility. However, if you are using a relatively short pole, say 25 foot or less then this isn't as big an issue as it would be if you were using a 35 foot pole. When fully extended you may have an issue getting a univalve to work with 35 feet of flexible hose. However, the Green from gardiner works fine with a 25 footer.

I got that, once univalve was mentioned I had listed all the items in my order history that would have their warranty voided if I used a univalve! Apparently it adds extra wear and tear, one of those items was a fan jet! How on earth can a univalve do that to a fan jet?!

I tried gardiners re- enforced hose which worked ok-ish with the univalve, but overall I thought it was rubbish and was heavy
