Pole versus trads.

Unless you go inside and look when the sun is shining directly on the window nobody whether trad or wfp can guarantee perfect results.

It's cleaning a pane of glass, most of the time you shouldn't he getting it wrong. I'd say you could guarantee it with alot more confidence using wfp than trad though. If I went looking for a mark after a house has been done trad then I'm going to find one, regardless who's cleaned it. I include myself in that.

With wfp it can be as good as flawless, I don't think that result gets achieved from anyone on a single house who does it trad.

Yes I agree with you on trad, I just find it difficult to believe the wfp results are flawless considering how far away from the glass you are and not being able to get enough pressure on stubborn stains. I also wonder about the lack of any detergent to clean windows in highly polluted areas (traffic fumes, tree sap etc).

I used to think the same, and I based it on a guys run I took over years ago. Windows were terrible, all of them said they only kept him as he had been coming for years. You tend to not budge on your opinions when you actually see it with your own eyes. So my mind was made up that they did a terrible job.

Then around 2 years later I was doing a new house as she said she wasn't happy with the current window cleaner. Said they were only done within the last week but since we were there just to do then.

I said to the boy working with me to have a look at these windows, absolute flawless, I said to the boy I'm away to speak to her, we aren't getting the windows like that and if she's not happy with how they are then she's not going to be happy with us doing it.

She just didn't like the water being left on the windows. That was it. Some people just don't like it regardless if it does a better job or not.

When I switched over to pole system I had so many of my customers just look at me with the wtf eyes and a few said that will never work. Was still cleaning them 5 years later and more than happy with the job.
Got married and Moved location since then and only ever done pole system on all my jobs and got work coming out of the top of my head.
If there’s a problem with your windows after cleaning then it’s not the method that’s at fault

Yes, agree with that. For what it's worth Polzn bladz reckons he's never had perfect results from wfp.
Then either his kit or technique is no good , if we get a handful of complaints in 5 years we have had a very bad 5 years , I regularly check our work and can’t remember the last time I found a problem, I even put up a ladder occasionally check upstairs and the same applies. Many use water with a TDS reading up to 010- 020 this is probably the reason they get problems or they are using rain water I know ones that do this and don’t even bother filtering it then they wonder why they have problems and complaints

Well having read all the replies today I think it's clear, some think that traditional does the better job and some think that WFP does the better job so that's settled then, nobody is absolutely right and nobody is absolutely wrong. Thanks guys, I'm off back to sunbathing in Tenerife. 😎

Indeed.
As Frank Zappa said- “people will agree with you only if they already agree with you. You don’t change people’s minds.”

:ROFLMAO: That amuses me, he goes on so much about other window cleaners getting poor results with a squeegee being down to poor technique and it's not the tool at all. Then he says he can't get perfect results from a wfp - maybe it's his poor technique ? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Yes I agree, I'm certainly not somebody who hangs on his every word as far as trad goes, far from it in fact. Just thought I'd put it in there to see what you wfp boys thought.

Hy.long time since I was here but a question for the trade.has ur customer base improved since the Introduction of the pole lads? I ask because mine has. Been cleaning since 1994 (been home for my dinner in-between tho) and noticed a 15% increase in work due to the dislike of the pole system.prefering the trads having tried the pole system .is the pole wearing off with domestic homes?

I moved over to WFP in 2010 after 17 years trad. I now earn over 26k MORE a year than when I was trad for less work...I now just work around 25 hrs a week(including admin)over a 4 day week.

Water fed pole is the single best thing I've ever done in window cleaning. I'm 100% WFP and no ladders at all. I got rid of every single job that required ladders for flat roofs, etc too last year

My round has grown organically over the last 14 years. I pick up work BECAUSE I'm WFP and can reach 99% of all awkward windows and frames lots of modern properties have these days.🙂👍

My earnings have certainly improved probably by about 30% which is good. I did traditional for over 40 years and yes I wish I'd change over sooner. It was a fall 2 years ago that gave me the final push and I haven't regretted it plus I'm not getting any younger and I know this will make my job easier. My main motivation though isn't just the money, although it's nice, I actually like my job and my customers are more like friends. Just recently I've offered a round to a friend of mine, it was a really hard thing to do, I've cleaned the estate since it was built over 20 years ago and they are friends but I have too much work and the business will suffer if it keeps expanding.
So whilst I have to run it as a business it is a bit more than that to me.
(Sorry if that sounds sycophantic)

Would you still clean them if you won the euro millions ?
