I'd need it to stop air getting to the pump when I'm changing resin ?

The problem you are getting is pretty much like a pneumatic effect.

When filling with resin is trapping air in the vessel.

When the screw cap gets pushed on it's acting like a pump.

you could try a handheld vacuum pump to draw out any air before running the system

That makes sense. I've an old plumber who runs a shop locally, I'm pretty certain he'll have a solution. I'll see him this week as I've borrowed an immersion spanner from him ?
