I'm not interested how many guliable cleaners sign up to your money making scam for want a better word as you should be providing this information to them for free as you have a duty of care for their H&S whilst in your employment as a subcontrator don't you?

Oh great, another windie that has decided that instead of cleaning windows hes going to try and make money out of other window cleaners instead. In this case offering mickey mouse courses.
Considering you are trying to make money from this post I'm wondering whether you've contributed to the forum and paid Gav any money for advertising here? I cant see you on the side banners or the discount page? With all that success I would have thought you had enough to pay your dues.
As Gav says, I've paid.

I've spoke to Soo many solar companies one of my mates is a manger of a solar company in my area and he said If your that worried about getting an electric shock turn them off before you clean them but there is the very smallest chance this could ever happen ! I've been cleaning them for a while now and I've managed to worm my way in a load of solar panels on a farm hopefully I get the contract as there are fooking loads I don't need no training, thanks anyway Steve [emoji38] [emoji106]

Well done to you.

Lol. That'll be because they are not actually dangerous. They are sealed units that are designed to be out in the elements getting rained on. Stay away from the gubbins at the back and just clean the bit you are supposed to clean.
Prehistoric thinking I'm afraid....

you got a certificate off ebay didnt you green:D
and dont forget the members discount...
NO NO NO, I Wont hear of it CNC.................In the 'spirit' of this thread, 'I aint paying no fees, eBay or otherwise!' I got my certificate of Gumtree, they also come in Polish, Romanian, Latvian and Scottish! /emoticons/tongue.png

You're right on this one Steve, there are plenty of gullible people out there. And its not prehistoric, its just common sense, the only problem with it is that its not that common.

Electrician by trade, and a friend of mine installs these, neither of us think there is any possibility of getting shocked off a solar panel, I am not sure where the massive danger is to warrant a course?
I mean by all means do tell me what can potentially happen to cause injury to warrant paying a lot of money to be a subcontractor for you, sorry I mean do your coarse.
I must be reading this wrong. So let me get this right, as an electrician, you'd be happy to say that there is NO possibility that spraying water onto an electrified panel whilst holding a carbon pole can result in an electric shock???

Pay the £200.00 and I will happily tell you what can potentially happen and how...

I'd be a complete ***** to offer this course on the Internet and not know the answer to that!

i can see were he is comng from getting a fair price across uk for cleaning panels but.... u dont need to charge to train people or **** about
get everyone on board and price the same do whole uk and most of all dont charge us to join lol
So I should hire a conference room, put on food and drink, give away marketing materials and share my knowledge.....at my own expense? Would you do that?

Basic scaremongering in an attempt to make noobs scared enough to pay for this mickey mouse course,as well as putting doubt into solar farm managers minds, all in a bid to line your pockets.

That'll be because they are working with exposed wires and making potentially fatal connections.

Next month I intend to put on a course for house cleaners that want to clean and dust televisions. Just £200. If you are cleaning TVs in a residential setting then you don't need to wear my branded t shirt, but if you want to go and clean TVs in Currys then you will have to wear my uniform and put a sticker on your van.

Laughable.

In other words its worth NOTHING. And if an operator showed it in a court of law after an accident, they will not be backed up by you in the slightest.

"erm, your honour...Steve made this certificate for me that says I know what I'm doing"

An on site safety induction like the ones on a construction site will achieve the same result and should be a requirement anyway, only problem is....you won't make money from that.

Wow, this is great! So,what's going to set me apart I wonder??....

Coool!!! /emoticons/smile.png

...is it accredited?

Booo..

I doubt it.

See above.

What guarentees are you offering for this. Would I get my course fee back if I don't?

This'll be interesting...

Really? ...because it seems to me like I'm getting my pants pulled down, and devaluing my own brand in the process.

Thats great! So who trained you? ...and are you accredited?

"Hi Mr solar farm manager, Steve printed this certificate for me on his home computor.."

So wait, I've paid for this 'course', and now I have to represent YOUR brand, instead of my own. ...What happened to the whole "mutually beneficial" stuff.

...other wise I would lose all accreditation. Wait, what?

When people see through this pile of :turd:, I doubt that'll bean issue.

240 notes for a course that starts late and finishes early, way to give value for money.

I doubt this very much.

"I should hope so for what I'm paying".

OR: "You may view this asan opportunity to network with other gullible window cleaners that also lightened their wallets by falling for this drivel".

It would be a lot busier if I just put my £240 towards some proper advertising instead me thinks./emoticons/wink.png

...so about that accreditation?
I have a lot to say to that, but I will be brief. So can we put your name down? Lol!

well that course got well advertised.../emoticons/biggrin.png
actually...I dont know why steve doesnt just franchise the areas out and throw the course and certificate in to the franchise holders.

to balance the argument back a bit steves way...someone has to be first to offer the course and also people are free to buy or not to buy...

and in true dragons den....Im out../emoticons/biggrin.png

.
THE most sensible answer so far. Thank you!

So are you going to reply to my last post or not @Solar Steve ?

I'm not interested how many guliable cleaners sign up to your money making scam for want a better word as you should be providing this information to them for free as you have a duty of care for their H&S whilst in your employment as a subcontrator don't you?

and I had to come back on to put a scenario out there...

mr householder has some solar panels..

he finds out one has broken after a bit of tile blew on to it after a gale..

its not covered by warranty and his insurance excess would be a lot.....

but mr window cleaner is scrubbing away from the ground..

he gets his money and goes...

later mr householder phones up mr windowcleaner and says..you broke one of my panels..

nighty night folks...hold your corner steve../emoticons/biggrin.png

Steve,, as they say you have two hopes and Bob is dead! You think you are going to 'regulate' the cleaning of Solar Panels? Perhaps on commercial 'farms' but never on residential.
Just look at window cleaning as an example, you 'by law' have to have liability insurance to clean windows. For every Windy that does I can point to 10 that don't and you think they are going to pass up some extra solar panel cleaning cash just because some bunch of chaps who want to control the purse strings say it's now regulated?

You talk of the risk (driving round Birmingham is a risk) Can you point me to references material of 'serious injury' / 'fatality' cause whilst cleaning solar panels?
I didn't say I was going to regulate it. I said that certain bodies within the industry is looking to regulate it and they want me to help.

I agree that there will always be cowboys out there. Some may even have posted on here! Just because some people don't abide by the law, does not mean the law should not exist.

I'm insured for Solar Panel cleaning @cheapncheerful just as I am for windows. Including the one I am working on.

Load of ******! We all share info on this forum and the other one. All you do is cream the cream mate!
It's not personal, it business.

Here you go Steve, with regards to another thread where you stated that nothing but pure water should be used in cleaning of Solar Panels I have directly contacted the manufacturer of my favorite cleaning solution to ask their official version.

Here it is.

The following is a copy and paste from my email:

Hi Darren,

The busy body was correct in saying not to use chemicals on panels. That means stuff like alcohol, ammonia, or phosphates. Glass Gleam-4 is great for cleaning solar panels. When mixed at ¼ ounce per gallon, the resulting solution is 98.9% water, and none of the aforementioned chemicals.

The only issue with cleaning panels that we wanted to improve on was the fact that they are often very hot, so we created Glass Gleam-Solar, which is very much like GG-4, but with more ability to stay wet in hot conditions. Some info is attached.

Regards,

-Alan

Stop being a frank cnc as this is a serious matter regarding the responsibility of contractors employing subcontractors.

you fight your corner well steve.../emoticons/biggrin.png
tuffers you will go on the naughty step...for making me laugh this near bedtime...

cant stop laughing...What if I fail the course  Do I still get my certificate?
This business is my baby. I love it like a mother and will fight for it like a father. Some things in life are worth fighting for...

I'm getting more wound up listing to your crap @Solar Steve and that takes some doing to get me going I can tell you.

How to come across as an arrogant *****! I will wage £50 we bid for the same contracts and you'll be the one playing x-box whilst I am busy cleaning Solar Panels.!
You know what? That's happening already! Due to this hair-brained solar panel cleaning 'rip-off', 'scam' business I have going on, I only 'work' 3 days a week now! I have only been on the tools about 6 days since Christmas. So yeah, your prediction has already come true!

The only difference is that while you are out cleaning solar panels, I am enjoying free time, but it's not on an Xbox. I'm more of a people's person!
