So are you going to reply to my last post or not @Solar Steve ?
I am providing a duty of care. They have an option of coming on a course or not. No one says the duty has to be free. No building company or cleaning company for whom one may subcontract lays on free IPAF or working at height courses so that you can go and clean their windows safely do they?

and I had to come back on to put a scenario out there...
mr householder has some solar panels..

he finds out one has broken after a bit of tile blew on to it after a gale..

its not covered by warranty and his insurance excess would be a lot.....

but mr window cleaner is scrubbing away from the ground..

he gets his money and goes...

later mr householder phones up mr windowcleaner and says..you broke one of my panels..

nighty night folks...hold your corner steve../emoticons/biggrin.png
Again, that's covered on the training course.

There's still life in me. No ones come close to landing a killer blow yet! :)

You know what? That's happening already! Due to this hair-brained solar panel cleaning 'rip-off', 'scam' business I have going on, I only 'work' 3 days a week now! I have only been on the tools about 6 days since Christmas. So yeah, your prediction has already come true!
The only difference is that while you are out cleaning solar panels, I am enjoying free time, but it's not on an Xbox. I'm more of a people's person!
Dude, your retort does not even relate to my statement. -- You are the one 'claiming' you are the one that will get the business and poor old Mr Window Cleaner has no chance without you!

All I did is call you out and say you're full of sh**e if me putting up £50 is obliviously not enough for you (and after cleaning 150'000 panels it probably isn't) just name your price! I'll play, anytime anyplace.

What has cost you any sliver of credibility in my opinion is that the way you talk you are the worlds leading expert and the rest of us know f**k all and couldn't find our ***** with both hands.

I don't need to be an expert on Solar Panels to know I can out pitch some cocky little brat. You ring out just like those numpties on 'The Apprentice', they all talk a good game too but when it's time to put up I wouldn't get out of bed for the results they produce!

Here you go Steve, with regards to another thread where you stated that nothing but pure water should be used in cleaning of Solar Panels I have directly contacted the manufacturer of my favorite cleaning solution to ask their official version. Here it is.

The following is a copy and paste from my email:

Hi Darren,

The busy body was correct in saying not to use chemicals on panels. That means stuff like alcohol, ammonia, or phosphates. Glass Gleam-4 is great for cleaning solar panels. When mixed at ¼ ounce per gallon, the resulting solution is 98.9% water, and none of the aforementioned chemicals.

The only issue with cleaning panels that we wanted to improve on was the fact that they are often very hot, so we created Glass Gleam-Solar, which is very much like GG-4, but with more ability to stay wet in hot conditions. Some info is attached.

Regards,

All of that is fine. I don't dispute any of it. But lo, Behold! Is this a businessman who has spotted a gap in the chemical market and tried to fill it in the hope of making a financial profit??? How very dare he!!! Actually, his enterprise has my utmost respect.

What really matters to me though is what manufacturers say about how solar panels should be cleaned...

Well according to you they should be cleaned by a man driving a van with your stickers on it wearing your t-shirt with a certificate from you in his back pocket that isn't an actual accreditation!

Did I get that right?

I'm getting more wound up listing to your **** @Solar Steve and that takes some doing to get me going I can tell you.
If you don't like this and still read everything I write......Dude, you're a fan!

There is a big difference if one of your subcontractors gets hurt or killed onsite cleaning panels because you as a contractor have failed to give them relevant information they need to perform the task safely to avoid getting hurt. Without doing so in the eyes of the law you will be found liable.

Sorry if I have wound you up.

I do not claim at all that Mr Window Cleaner does not have a chance, but I know that we have a BETTER chance, which we do. The numbers do not lie.

I am not being patronising. There are some obviously intelligent people on here, successful businessmen. But there are also some plain old idiots who want a verbal war when they've had a drink and been kicked out of the bed by the Mrs.

I am not the worlds leading expert, I still learn new stuff as the industry develops. But I do know more than Joe Average.

I love The Apprentice and you're right, many of them can't deliver. Why do they make it through the selection process? Because the producers know it will make people shout at their TV and it makes a fun programme.

But there are some gems on there as well who shine. They are the ones who get the deals.

You're right. I think training should be provided then...

the information should be freely available to your subcontrators not them having to pay 238 squid up front. After all they are the ones will be doing the grafting not you smart arse

I'm going to bed now. But before I do, I've had a thought.

Is anyone brave enough to stick their head out above the parapet, at their own expense, hire a conference room, provide food and drink, invite everyone over and have as the theme of the day: WHY CLEANING SOLAR PANELS IS NOT DANGEROUS.

You know, I'd even pay £238.80 just to hear what they had to say. Out of morbid curiosity rather than wanting to know it would do my business some good.

Put your hands up, then form an orderly queue! Goodnight!

Sorry if I have wound you up..
Apology accepted.

A couple of quick points, I am t-total, if my missus doesn't want to share the bed she can f**k off and sleep in the spare room, I paid for this bed and the room it's in (the house that that room is in as well come to think of it) and lastly this isn't a verbal battle, it's not even a tiff.

It takes a damn sight more than someone I have never met that (don't take this next part too personally) I don't give a toss about giving it a bit of banter on the world wide web to wind me up!

I don't disagree with your plan or ambition, why not put together a course, and yes why not get paid for your time, after all we are a free market economy. I just truly believe you need to go back to your drawing board and redesign your package and pitch.

Training is never a bad thing when done right, and I do believe you might know a thing or two about Solar Panels and cleaning them, but I also truly believe that you don't know a thing about pitching seminars.

I make that last statement as someone who had a two decade career getting paid to give seminars all over the world - window cleaning is my retirement hobby.

Lol, it would be more interesting to be a fly on the wall of one of your courses, watching your 'students' eyes glazing over while you waffle about irrelevent topics, preying for the day to end so they can pick up their certificate and free t shirt.

I must be reading this wrong. So let me get this right, as an electrician, you'd be happy to say that there is NO possibility that spraying water onto an electrified panel whilst holding a carbon pole can result in an electric shock???
Pay the £200.00 and I will happily tell you what can potentially happen and how...

I'd be a complete ***** to offer this course on the Internet and not know the answer to that!
The only possible way you could get a shock is if the panel is broken, the glass on the front would have to be compromised, you can see if this is the case by looking at it.

Now if that was an ofical ancreditted training course with no strings attached I would probably be one of the first to sign up. However as it stands it's just a gimmick to make money off the backs of gullible ppl which I find distasteful.

I think you have just given away the bulk of the course. On the powerpoint presentation it would be covered under 'situational awareness' to make it sound fancy.

It is the paying for a NON ACCREDITED bit that gets me

I pay my money to get something unregulated and unaccredited and then don't even own it

If i was corgi gas safe registered i would own it for life and be paying for a recognised qualification which is the difference

Yep...it would be verified by an external source thereby giving it some credibility.

Like was said before, the pitch is what makes it so terrible. If it was just a course/workshop it woulnt be so bad. But its more like an ill thought out franchise.

You would be paying for mostly bullshite me thinks as that is why it's not accredited.

dc current can kill - fact

Individual solar panels can't be turned off -fact

carbon poles conduct electricity - fact

pure water when dirty conducts electricity - fact

broken/faulty panels can't be turned off - fact

Risks - possible electrocution risk cleaning defective solar panels & contact with faulty wiring.

If you are unlucky enough to get a belt from a panel yer hair will stands on end and you may stop breathing - fact

PPE

insulated rubber gloves & boots http://www.cablejoints.co.uk/sub-product-details/insulating-gloves-boots-lv-hv/insulating-rubber-electrical-safety-gloves-high-voltage

I could go on but I want you to sign up on my bullshite course...

Phewy ........that took a bit of time to read :specs.........(slurp)....urgh :puke:....yuk!......my coffee's gone cold now /emoticons/sad.png........../emoticons/biggrin.png.
