Solar panels

Help Support WCF:

I was once told if you put your left elbow on the floor before you get hit by lightening it would miss your heart and save your life maybe the same would apply here /emoticons/smile.png. Just aim to do it when the costumer isnt in they might give you some weird looks /emoticons/smile.png

Sounds stupid but are WFP systems earthed - Tank, Filters, Pipes, Pumps ect

yep does remind me of something at college that was always use the right hand as any shock takes the shortest route and thus would miss your heart...as for earthing equip good idea but dont forget thats where the electricity would be heading for, so if you form the link....

I'm not a member but would one of you who are could call the federation of window cleaners, surely they would be able to help, manufacturers would probably talk to them and perhaps supply them with a risk or method statement?. Unless Gav has a spare 5 mins to call or even get them on this forum /emoticons/smile.png))

/emoticons/biggrin.png plenty of rubber wear then:whistle:

also found this out in google land...so its on here which does add a bit .....ask steve if his course is ready yet...http://windowcleaningforums.co.uk/threads/new-business-somerset-any-help-gratefully-received.9913/

I have cleaned solar panels for customers. I haven't had any problems or been electrocuted.

All the cabling is double insulated and underneath the panels. You're cleaning a piece of glass positioned above the electricity generating array.

It's no more dangerous than if someone stuck a solar panel on the inside of a window that you were cleaning.

Clean a faulty panel then might be a different story bud. Just because you have cleaned them in the past ok doesn't mean you are not at any risk.

all the panels are probably linked in series so the voltage would be quite high....i think you may see a flying windowcleaner if you did hit a faulty panel.....

if you are cleaning from the ground you are unable to visually check for this

could be a matter of checking what is happening at input/output before clean?

maybe

give us a clue some one:ninja::rofl:

you would think solar steve would part with the saftey aspects of solar cleaning. he obviously has done research on it but if the people he has asked were as tight lipped as him he would be as thick as the rest of us.

I don't like to go into solar panels. It gets a bit tricky and risky to clean. I'm happy with business. It may not be much, but it's what I know. Good Luck out there to do those who will clean these panels. It's always nice to see community coming together to help each other out.
