Right so I've been putting it off for the last few months but I've now got to bite the bullet.  I've narrowed down the list of items required to get up and running using a trolley.  So I think I've just got the brush and resin canistor to choose, any advice on which best to go for?  and is there anything that I've missed on the list?

Trolley - Pure Freedom Nano

Pole - SLX22

Drums - going to ask at local car washes

Brush - ? how many and what type?

Resin - ?

Resin canistor - ?

Do you know what your TDS is, you might need an R/O as well as a Di Vessel, or as you call it a resin canistor.  For a newbie a sill brush is probably a good starter brush.

I did get a TDS tester about a month ago now but not got around to testing the water, I'm almost certain that it's soft enough for just using resin without the R/0.  On the map it says I'm in soft water (cheshire).  I will double check it though before I splash any cash.

The brush choice is a hard part, there are just so many options.  I can see the need for a sill brush, but will I need another brush?  Wha't the disadvantage of using a sill brush on windows that don't have a sill, is it slower or heavier?  Also I see the terms 'soft' and 'medium' used, I take it this means how stiff the bristles are, what is best for cold water?  Then there is flocked, what's the flocked for?

Good pole & trolley choice.

Brush comes down to personal preference (For pretty much everything I use medium mixed dual trim from Gardiners). As far as DI vessels are concerned I would suggest you go for double DI (ie: two canisters) this will prolong the life of the resin, I bought mine from Pure Freedom.

In my experience, soft and flocked brushes are kinder to leaded windows. The stiffer the bristles the more likely they are to get under the lead and lift it. It seems that many prefer the stiffer brushes when using hot water as the heat softens them in use.

All my work is residential and I use cold water for 90% of the year so for that I prefer the softer monofilament brushes, but I also keep a flocked brush on board to use if needed.

I don't like sill brushes, but that's just me. I have tried them but I find them them too heavy for my liking and unlike others I have never managed to get them to work well for me. I prefer as light a brush as possible and find the Xtreme Gardiner brushes suit me. However, if starting out I would recommend something like the Gardiner Ultimate Medium Mixed Hybrid brush and a flocked version for those leaded windows.

At the end of the day though it is very much a matter of personal preference and what suits your work the best
