Struggling making my pure water

WCF

Help Support WCF:

100 GPD won't make that much. At a guess, 50 Ltrs per hour? All to do with water temperature, and pressure from the tap. Unfortunately here in the UK we will never get optimum conditions on membranes.
100GPD membrane performance is taken over a 24 hour period. That makes it 4.17 gallons per hour. The measurement is in US gallons not imperial. That's 15.8 liters per hour.

In testing they will have a water pressure much higher than we can duplicate and the water will also be at an optimum temperature. (One report said the test conditions were done at 800psi for that particular membrane and the water at 25 degrees C. It also had to have a PH of 5.7. The test time for the evaluation was 30 minutes at those pressures and water temperature).

So with cold water and much lower water pressure I would say what you are getting could be right.

I connected up my old 450GPD I had used for years about a year ago and couldn't believe how slow it was; it was just a dribble. Theoretically that would be 4.5 times faster than yours.

There must be somone on here that has a small RoMan type r/o running without booster who could measure the time it takes to fill an old 4 pint plastic milk bottle. If they tell you what size r/o it is then the can adjust the time for your smaller r/o.

At present

My water pressure is 35psi and flow rate is 11 ltr per min

And it is taking me 2 hrs 20 mins to do 25ltr of pure through my 200gpd

I have just ordered a booster pump to get a better pressure

Thanks James.

Seems to indicate that the op's r/o is slower than it should be.

My 300GPD is making 6ltrs of pure per hour, with the booster pump it's nearly doubled (75% more).

A pump is the way to go,

Even at this time of year?

I'm struggling with water temperature, it's all done by my outside tap, so it's pretty cold going into the RO. In the summer Im getting similar figures to you, but my water pressure isn't great.

My TDS is 580ppm, maybe that is why it's going through slower, added to the viscosity of the water. Fortunately it's making enough for me to continue working, so it's just the cost of the water, running the system all the time

That's worse than Hartlepool at 550ppm.

Get a new system mate and stick with it don't go back even with wfp it will take a few months to get everything done good and get used to it but it will get better

I first bought a 50gpd to back in the day. It trickled out so slow & I would say the 100gpd would not be much better. A booster pump would help but if your just going wfp your need a much bigger & faster one. My 200gpd ro with booster pump then going through 2 4.5 litre di's makes 25 litres in about 20 mins.
How are you managing 25ltr in 20 mins with a 200gpd .

I have a 200gpd and a aquatec 125 psi booster and I am getting 25ltr in about 50mins going through a 11 ltr di
