Alright guys,

I was at a job today when the water stopped but the pump was on and sat at 0.

I couldn't turn it off unless I unplugged it and when I plugged it back in it goes from 60 (where it was set) and just scrolls itself back to 0 again.

Then, it doesn't really do much and if I try put it back up it just takes itself to 0 again.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

@Ian Sheppard or @spruce are the experts on this type of thing Ime sure they will be along soon .

Disconnect the controller from the battery for 60 seconds and reconnect will reset it I think.

Have you just powered the pump directly from the battery (via a fuse) to see if that works correctly? That could show up a pressure switch fault.

Measure the battery voltage at the controller to double check all the voltage is getting there and you don't have a poor joint.

Possibly moisture damage or the tactile switches are dirty

Sorry mate, what are the tactile switches?
They are the buttons you press to change settings. They are a plastic type cover over the top and they have a conductive pad that sits above a zigzag pattern on a circuit board. When pressed they flex and make the switch connection. Your system is new isn't it? I would be surprised if been in use long enough to have water damage.

I bought it second hand mate.

I've just taken the front cover off of the controller, would there be anything glaringly obvious if it's dirty/water damaged mate?

Sorry I confused you with someone else.

Water damage might show up as white staining on the circuit board but it might not be that obvious. It could also be on the side of the board that is screwed to the front panel. I haven't seen the insides of a controller but normally the circuit board is screwed to the front panel and if you carefully remove it you can clean the switch pads on the circuit board with isopropyl alcohol.

Before you start taking the controller apart have you checked the pump runs when directly connected to battery (via fuse)? What is the voltage at the controller? Any idea what make the controller is? Always check the basics before taking things apart.

I think what Austin is suggesting is that the tactile switch that you press to lower the flow might be stuck or have dirt in it so the controller thinks you are pressing the down button.

Thanks mate.

I dont have a volt meter and the controller won't show the volts as its doing its own thing at the moment.

The pump runs fine, and there's no water marks/anything to show any dirt that k can see/find.

It's a water genie one mate, just left scratching my head at the minute!

I've located them bud, tried wiping them down, giving them a blow, and still doing the same thing, other than throwing it against a wall. I'm stumped!
Unlike many momentary switches these are non serviceable due to their design. I'd personally try some servisol switch cleaner but that's at my own risk and experience.

I'm guessing it's a second hand controller which is part of your recently purchased preloved van system?

It's an unfortunate thing but buy a new one and possibly a spare for future emergencies if the wife lets you.

The spring Europe ltd V16 is available from nearly all good suppliers and worth it's price tag.

I'd firstly recommend Doug at Daqua as he's on the forum or there is a slightly discounted one available from Zero DS wfp supplies

Thanks Austin, it is a preloved/abused one, its earned its money with me so I don't mind spending out for a new one!

Thanks again for everybody's help ?

A little update for those interested.

I ordered the V16 from Zero DS and I'm probably going to send mine to spring to be repaired. That way I'll have a spare that I'll hopefully never need to use ?

Thanks all for your replies.

Hi Kerby. Heck I biicked and its suddenly Tuesday. Just picked up this stream. As this is a V16 We are more than happy to take a look at it and see what we can do. Can I ask for the serial number that will be on the side of the controller. The front of the PCB looks ok from the picture. Please can you return it to Spring (Europe) Ltd, Units 9 & 14 April Court. Sybron Way Crowborough, TN6 3DZ

When it comes back to us please include a return address and phone/email contact

Cheers

Well done mate, welcome to the best pump controller ever made make sure you add a fuse between the battery and controller

Thanks Ian, the issue was with a v11 (I believe)

I am still happy to send the v11 back for you guys ti have a look at/repair, as I would like it as a spare anyway ?

Thanks for getting in touch mate:)
