WFP experiance!

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Hi everybody. I have been trad window cleaning for 8 years and have decided to convert over to WFP. I`m bricking it a little as to be expected. I have spoken to my customers about it and on the whole they were quite happy for me to use a WFP. The thing is I think it would be useful to have a little experiance before I`m let loose on my customers. Is there anyone out there I could perhaps go out with for a day or two so I could pick up some hints and tips? I am preparred to travel obviously so I`m not treading on anyone`s toes locally. I live near Christchurch in Dorset. Cheers Alan

If you get no response then the best thing, probably what a lot do, and i myself did, was practise on your own property. Or maybe on some friends? You'll soon find how simple it is, just takes a bit of getting used to. And also, stacks of great videos on utube which cover near enough every aspect. Good luck mate.

I switched over with no experience mate. Just get on and do it. I practiced in my own windows first of course. Then when I first went out I went to the properties I knew the customers would be at work so I could take my time.

Thanks Guys. I have borrowed a DVD on how to use a waterfed pole which has been very useful. I also did a waterfed pole course but that was a big waste of time and money. Yes I am letting my windows get extremely filthy so I can have a practice run. Just thought that to go out with someone would be quite useful. Its not essential though.

Oh yeah do you lads bother with using additives like Vision V2 in you tank? if so do you notice a difference?

Clean the customer with wfp, then trad with ladders. You'll notice where you need to be more thorough and learn that way. Takes more time in the beginning, but pays off well in experience.

Personally I wouldn't talk to your customers about it. The moment you get them involved you will start to generate negative thoughts in some of them. They then start talking.

You've asked to go out with someone to show you the wfp technique. That's a good start, then carry on and practice and practice on your house and those of friends and family. Do it over and over again until you get comfortable with doing it. Then start cleaning unannounced. If you look professional then 99% of them will be happy.

If they think you are learning to clean using their property then they might not be so happy.

15 years ago we had to explain wfp as most people hadn't heard of it and were very skeptical of it. We basically had to offer a no payment guarantee when we first introduced the system.

Nowadays, 99.9% of the population know about wfp. If we get a new customer we just go ahead and clean the property wfp as its normal to use this system. We never tell them about the system we use. In ten years we have only had 1 enquiry, a recommendation, where the lady wanted the house cleaned traditionally. Answer; "sorry we can't help you."

"Do you know anyone who still does its properly?"

"No I'm sorry, I don't. There aren't many left and the last cleaner I know has just changed over to this system for his own safety. Thanks for your enquiry. Bye."

Crystalalan,

I'm in the New Forest and cover almost up to Christchurch! happy to assist if I can...

If all your custy's are used to trad - I think it's sensible to explain the change over - don't ask permission just explain - you're investing in updating your business and upgrading your approach to use WFP so they can *benefit* from the advances in cleaning technology and how their windows and frames etc will get/stay cleaning for longer - reduced risk of accidental damage from ladders / broken tiles - you'll be able to reach all Velux's/tricky windows and soffits/facias barge boards. Greatly reduced risk of accidents etc.

Ask for their feedback (so there feel bought in) so you can tweak your approach - increase flow/slow down/etc... to ensure you don't lose any custy's on the cut over.

It's not an *apology* but 'your' getting a free upgrade of service...

Read as much as you can about the tech and benefits - and just drop them into the conversation if they seem a little sceptical

Do you know what. I have had a lot of time to think about this and what you say makes a lot of sense. I have informed them that it will benificial as the sills and frame will look much cleaner and to be honest I think some of them would be pretty ****** off if I rocked up with all this new equipment without saying anything first. I appreciate your offer mate

Over 11 years ago i decided to draft a letter of sorts as that was recommended years ago along with explaining the changeover, after the first few jobs I stopped bothering as they turned round and said as long as the windows are clean we don't care how you clean them it's up to you how clean the windows.

Did I have the odd client ask questions yes I did, so I explained about cleaning the frames etc, I even had one guy phone me up asking why his windows were left wet, next time I saw him they were chuffed to bits and have been ever since, yes explain they are in for a better service and that you will clean all the frames thoroughly and was the doors down and can also include garage doors now for an extra £2 other than no point unless asked.

Not telling you what to do mate. But I charge £5 for a single garage door, £8 for a double. Be difficult for you to increase to that for existing customers but you probably could with new customers I'd think. I spray a bit of soapmix on them to help and it looks good to the customer when it runs off and sits on the ground.

Admirable charge progression id say.Not sure, but do understand about the letter.
