Hi everyone,
ive finally got round to getting my van and system sorted and have just bought a transit custom.
i now need to get a system sorted but am not sure who to go with.
I currently have an ionics 300l and its been great for 11 years.
i have had a quote from them but it seems a bit steep( north of £7k) s o have been looking for alternatives.
i have looked at facelift,pure freedom,water genie,x-line and baileys.
They all seem more reasonably priced but are they any good?
anybody had any of these machines your opinion/feed back would be appreciated.

Ionics do a more budget friendly version of theif products through their other company Pure2o. Streamline also have good robust products with great aftercare.
Personally I would stay away from facelift/WCW. Their products just don't seem to last, I have their compact system and diesel boiler. Had issues with both and the after care is pretty poor. WCW have also bought our Pure Freedom now so probably similar situation. Can't speak for the others.

I think Pure2O also price match any other company. So get some quotes and then see what PureO2 can do as they are crash tested I think.

I have a Facelift 425ltr compact system, had it around 18 months now no complaints at all.

Ultimately it's a water tank with a pump and controller whether it's a 2k or 7k system they are pretty much the same, the difference is how a system is fitted and bolted into your van.

I had my local garage fit mine and had to have bespoke brackets made for my system to be bolted in, Window Cleaning Warehouse don't supply what they use if you chose them or one of their depots for the fitting whether WCW or Purefreedom their sister company they might have other places to book fitting into as well.

What’s wrong with your ionics system? They will change the spreaders etc and refit it for you relatively cheaply.

Secondary option with ionics, they sell refurbished systems much cheaper.

All of that aside, take them a quote from anywhere else and they will price match for you. There are some exclusions such as they will price match hot box systems but not their own built in Thermopure one.

I’ve had good dealings with Pure freedom. I find the Reelmaster hose reel to be fantastic. Theirs is a system that is also crash tested. I’ve mixed feelings about Window Cleaning Warehouse. Recently they sent me some univalves that were broken, they fixed that really quickly. They haven’t quite mastered WhatsApp just yet though.

My biggest piece of advice would be don’t use GrippaTank.

Judging by the recent whispers regarding some insurance companies apparently refusing any system not a crash tested system, you might seriously consider having a crash system fitted by a professional supplier. So a Purefreedom crash tested system should be fitted by their own workshop. They should know what they are doing.

This could mean that I would need to have my system's DIY welded tank frame replaced and fitted by Purefreedom in the future if my insurance company starts to apply stricter insurance conditions. (BTW, my tank frame is a copy of the original P/F frame from 18 years ago with addition supports added. I was asked when I took out insurance with my insurers 8 years ago if the tank was professionally fitted. I told them it was fitted by me and was professionally fitted, which seemed to satisfy them.)

I replaced it with a shurflo pump and not had an issue since. TBF other than that it has been ok as it is literally a tank, pump and controller on mine.
But, what does concern me is how they are fitted. Last year I bought a new van and took the system out. I'm not kidding the system was bolted through the floor with a one inch by one inch plate on the other side of the van floor. In a crash those bolts and 1 inch plates will have just popped straight out. Very dodgy.

This is where I come from with ionics price match. They are the oldest of the suppliers. They have the most amount of experience. The systems don’t looks as modern as the facelift etc but they’re much safer.

People have believed they have changed their ways several times mate. I must say my delivery systems were both fine. It’s when things got more technical it became a problem. Then Ollie the Ostrich does his usual and problems don’t get solved.

I also have the Facelift Heatwave diesel boiler, it's currently out of action unfortunately. It has been ok on the whole, it is 4 years old now. But over the last 2 years I have noticed a deterioration in it with parts becoming worn and wearing. At the moment it has broken 3 times this winter and the webasto engineer is at a bit of a loss now. He also thinks they wired it up wrong because you should be able to reset it when it locks out by just removing the fuse for 10 seconds. But mine won't do that.

It’s a trek but there is a Webasto fella near me that’s epic. He rerouted my exhaust and found that Grippa had left the fuel line touching it. Where the exhaust gets so hot it had melted to the exhaust. Might be worth getting a second opinion from somewhere though. Also worth considering having an independent fuel tank added. This way the box can be removed and left at the garage for service while you crack on about your business.
