Hi there,

Ive heard people use things like Metholyted Spirits in there water along with washing up liquid of their choice.

Does anyone here do that or use anything else??

How does this effect the cleaning of the window apart from lowing the freezing point?

G

You can buy 99% alcohol from ebay. You may find it alot cheaper lol. Just dont try drink it mate it can kill you and or you would have one bad ass hangover lol

Sod that then I'm sticking with the vodka

On a serius not how does it effect the cleaning on the window surely it makes it worse?

Its not like vinegar is it! Lol

I put a drop of anti freeze in my bucket in the winter. Has not made any difference to the windows & & last year seemed to work well but isn't a miracle worker. Windows still froze when really cold but it gave me a bit more scope.

rarely needed but yh as you said it lowers the freezing point so stops the water freezing on the glass as much, shouldnt effect the quality of the clean tho imo

cold water does not freeze as quick as hot water , if you transport your bucket inside your car or van make sure it is not hot water in the bucket as the inside of your truck will have condensation on the windscreens witch will freeze over and you wont be able to see a bloody thing

I still don't believe the first one but can't be arsed to test the theory so I'll take everyones word for it lol but totally good point about hot water in van mate, I'd probably be stupid enough to try that one.

Isn't Anti Freeze a small part of the make-up of car windscreen wash, so that it does'nt freeze over night.
No different stuff, Isopropyl alcohol is in screen wash and Ethylene glycol or Propylene glycol (less toxic) are in anti-freeze. Isopropyl alcohol or meths would do the job but extremely flammable, isopropyl alcohol is more flammable than petrol and meths only very slightly less so be careful out there.

Is it not better to use car screen wash then?

Instead of using ordinary soapy water

That cleans car windows pretty good, and has lower freezing point

Not sure on glide but I've seen posts about people adding some G yeah. Gotta add it does seem to help wipers glide well though and they just big sqeegees lol.
