Would a DI polishing Unit be beneficial to me? Some advice please.

Hi all

So currently my TDS is coming out of the RO anywhere between 6-9. Now, after extensive research as to whether that is OK, I am none the wiser! Many folks say that is fine and indeed work with much higher. Many others say that they are only happy with 0 or as close as. I am happy to buy a DI polishing kit to reduce the TDS further  so that if a customer has an issue with a clean then I can eliminate the water straight away however.....

A. How long would say a 10 litre bag of resin last me roughly bearing in mind the TDS going in is no higher than around 9 PPM?

B. Do you honestly think a TDS reading of less than 10 is perfectly good to work with? If a 10 litre bag of resin lasts long enough then it would be a good investment for me for peace of mind but if its not financially viable then should I worry less about my current PPM readings?

Thanks all

Google Gardiners resin calculator and use that

It is a rough guide but not far out

I clean with up to 10 but that is round here

Every areas water is different

Clean your own windows with it and inspect them once dry

For what it would cost to produce water at 00 - 05 after DI, pennies, then in my opinion it is a no brainer. What happens when your R/O starts to produce water between 10-12 do you then buy a new membrane? Just as a fail safe it will more than likely save you money in the long run.

Thanks guys.  That calculator is handy although I am not sure what it means when it asks litres used per month? I assume it means the pure water going through it from the RO and its nothing to do with any waste water?

Also could someone point me to a decent DI polishinjg unit that they may use? It seems there are so many, different sizes and prices. I just want one to polish off my TDS of between 6-9. Will the DI get it down to zero?

You only need a small resin vessel mate I have an 11lt tank and only have to charge the resin once every 10 months or so. It's well worth buying mate and yes your TDS will come down to 0ppm
Have a look on Wintecs there's free delivery on all orders and they have a good range of vessels iv ha 2 from there ;)

Thanks bud. So the size of the vessel only affects how often the resin needs changing right? The larger the size the less often to change?

Yes, after a while it will become saturated and the tds will start to go up, I change mine when it gets to 5ppm. Some on here change it before then, each to their own. Search on here for TDS creep as well, will allow your resin to last longer.
