Hi all, I'm just about to fit a mates van out from new, I use 8mm hose but is there any advantage to using 6mm?

Many thanks

It's thinner.

Plus sides:

You'll fit more on a reel.

It can be more flexible. (?)

Negative sides:

You'll drain your battery faster due to needing more power to push the water through a smaller opening.

Potentially lower pressure at brush head.

EDIT: Less robust than 8mm.

Some people on here seem to get by with it just fine. Personally I want to conserve battery life and like the more beefy hose so it can withstand cars and trucks driving over it.

Less, not more.

I’ve used both, much prefer 6mm as it’s easier to manage. Otherwise can’t say I’ve ever noticed much difference switching between them.

@H MAN I always find water hoses categorized by ID.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I guess I'll go for the 6mm. It for a friend who has done trad for 20 years and now wants to try WFP.

I use 8mm but the 6mm looks and feels easier to deal with.

We have both you do get better flow with 8 but 6 is far liter easier to manage if I had to chose one over the other for domestic work it would be 6 if large commercial only with little dragging round corners then 8 : but 6 is probably the best choise overall
