Ive got one and its awesome, Although I havent got my hands on a gardiner one yet. I remember seeing a window cleaner using what I though was one of his poles. Ill wait till I bump in to him again and as for a shot of it lolRight why are people buzzing over facelift poles ? they havent even been tested.. a lot of people are saying im getting a new pole and its going to be the facelift pole !
How do you know it going to be the ideal pole for u ? it hasnt even been tested yet and some people are willing to take a gamble and splash out a few hundred kwid and test it theirselves... why ? ? go for gardiners poles.. its well established and atleast you know your going to get a good pole /emoticons/smile.png
This request goes out to both Alex and Stephen.. Who's prepared to back their product by doing a side by side test.At the moment there is no Phoenix35 so it would have to be the SLX35!! I'm sure that Facelift will be adding a similar size pole to the SXL35 soon though. Exact rigidity comparison will have to be tested once they have been released.
The Xtreme35 is in a different league from the SLX35 both for rigidity and lightness.
I'm sure that both of us would be more than happy to carry out this type of test and in fact it is already what most firms do. I have rigidity tested a Phoenix 26 against an SLX25 on video, but obviously the SLX is much more rigid because the Phoenix26 is the UL version with the thinner top section. Stephen has already video tested an SLX25 and the (yet to be released on sale) Phoenix25 against each other, but the SLX25 was an old worn pole so it also was not really representative. This request goes out to both Alex and Stephen.. For the purpose of the test you should use a slx 25 and a phoenix 25.
This is one test that should be done by pole suppliers.
Here's the test: Extend both poles equally, same overlap etc, and then hang a 2kg weight from the end of the extended pole. The 2kg weight is close to the typical cleaning pressure when using a brush.
Please stick to a comparative working weight on the end of the pole; it’s a very simple exercise to do. Please provide the working rigidity test/videos
Alex i would like you to do the same test with an slx 35 and the extreme 35, because if i'm going to spend hundreds of pounds more for an extreme i want to see where my money is going.
Stephen, this is your opportunity to show me that i should wait for your phoenix 35 to come out rather than buy a gardiner pole, plus it will prove you do have a product that can compete with gardiner poles.
I look forward to seeing which pole supplier is more willing to do these types of test.
good luck and thank you

As soon as the larger range goes on sale of the Phoenix poles there will be plenty of comparisions being done.
However doing a side by side test of a 25ft pole will not show you exactly how a 35ft pole will react.
I can certainly shoot a video showing the Xtreme35 and the SLX35 together - I will look into doing this.
Whether attaching something as heavy as a 2kg weight is best will have to be looked at though.
I started out with tucker USA stuff! Same stuff Noah used to clean the tsohars on the ark! It was clumsy, heavy and no one believed it would ever work! How wrong were they?! Lol.Martyn, you started out with OTT?? How long have you been going? I don't know many who go that far back, we had our first system from them back in 98(?)
Thanks for the notice Doug,Just been informed of section 1 snapping on the Phoenix, maybe something to watch if you apply too much pressure on the pole as the top section is smaller than most poles !!
I don't think this is a 'I win you lose' situation, I kind of liken it to playstation/Xbox or even a PC/Mac - one pushes the envelope and the other does the same. The winner is always the end user!gardiners will win

Speaking as someone who started out with OTT/Ionics equipment I'm inclined to think that Alex's poles are quite well priced and specced, the size information is clear to understand. Having used and handled a number of his poles over the last few years as well as a number of Ionics offerings I am firmly of the belief that Gardiners poles have been king of the heap for quite a while, however nothing stands still and it may be that these new poles will knock them of the throne, or maybe not. Three months should give us a clear idea of how they are going to measure up.
On a personal level I have found dealing with Alex to be a positive and often informative experience.
