Hi All

I run a pair of 150gpd ro membranes into a pair of 700ml resin canisters. Been doing it for nearly 4 years and it suits the way I work.

I've got a particular issue with the resin. I changed the ro a few months ago and they are running at about 7/8 ppm. I'm ok with that. The problem is the resin. I like to change it when it clicks to about 4 ppm after the resin. I'm used to it running at zero for quite a few days and then gradually building up the reading until I then change it again. What has been happening, like last week, I change the resin and then within about 5-600 ltrs of water produced it jumps almost straight away to 3 ppm. The resin I use has been the Unger virgin etc, brand new bag.

Comments / help appreciated

I use resin from pure freedom, I get about 4000litres of pure at 000ppm between changes , also use the same di vessel , but I've got a 200 gpd

I've heard that resin you use dose nt last very long .....

I use tulsion mb115 and had now issues for a long time now.

But I've heared unger is not so good

The resin from pure freedom has changed I think , I got a batch last summer it lasted about 2 months ( I thought I was going mad , I was changing it every 2 weeks), ordered another bag , this new bag has tiny black bits mixed in with the resin but it's lasting much longer than the other stuff , this bag might last until April......

Sorry Guys, for not replying sooner. Been off with the flu. I've not been keeping up with stuff.

Thanks for your comments. I might try calling the suppliers, Cleaning Spot, for their comments.

I haven't set system running for about 10 days or more...

Also small 10 inch di resin canisters hold very little resin in them so can be exhasted very quickly. Especially for ppl that don't know about tds creep as will kill the resin quicker no matter what brand of resin you buy.

I prefer to backflush the ro without the di connected every time I go to run it first then flush the remaining water held in the system like in the vid.

One year he mentions his resin lasts but i'm betting he uses it for fish keeping not wfp work /emoticons/biggrin.png

I suppose your tap tds haven't increased? Also don't forget to stir/shake your DI vessels to get more out of them.

The tds meter I've been using is the in-line type, gives an instant reading after the ro and after the resin. I recently bought a handheld tds meter and tested the water in my van tank. The reading was zero, even after the water had been through the resin showing 3ppm!

So I'm a little suspicious of my 3 1/2 year old tds meter.

Inline tds meters I have been told are less accurate than hand held for some strange reason
