REVERSE OSMOSIS OR DI VESSEL?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Looking good
What's that singular hose coming out of the top left of tank (above vessels) ?
That's just a vent pipe coming from the tank lid. It's only that length as that's how it came with the tank- should get round to cutting it down one day!! /emoticons/biggrin.png

I have a hose (yellow hose) permanently attached to my lid to fill the tank. I just pull out the hose and connect to an outside tap. I also have John Guest (White pipe) pipe coming from the tank as an overflow. I have a tap on this to prevent the water escaping. I have to turn it on when I fill the tank to make it operational. This also helps prevent a vacuum.

The other thing is white cable which comes from the installed immersion heater. The breather pipe goes up the way & the cable goes down & then is hooked round & into the tank baffle to keep it out the way. You can see the immersion in this side view.

Haven't seen anything like that before - how much to install an immersion heater like that bud? Cheers for all your help. There are some cracking ideas within this thread /emoticons/smile.png

Not expensive, you can get everything you need for about £80. You then need a qualified sparky to put a 16amp external socket on the wall wired directly into main consumer unit on it's own 16amp breaker- via a 16amp timer unit. Life saver in winter- imagine the benefits of having a 500ltr radiator in your van!!

Apparently you can phone the water board and ask for a commercial water meter fitted at your property (about £150) and the water from there is much cheaper to filter your water.

The DI vessels present virtually none, if any at all, resistance of water flow for the pump. Di vessels are free flowing, you can very easily flow water through a DI with your mouth. The best sequence is Tank > pump > vessels > hose reel. The pump should push water through the vessels & not pull it for various reasons.
Morning Winp®oClean & @SPCleaning

Going to order x 2 11l DI vessels today.

Thinking about x2 from cleaning spot using member discount code . Total £112

Any last thoughts before I order? Cheers chaps /emoticons/smile.png

Just a recommendation sorry mate. I'm still in the process of setting up myself. I cant remember who it was on here that showed me them. Not much use sorry!

On this occasion I would go with the brand new ones for the price difference. I've had reconditioned ones from ebay which were great but they were only 12 months old & supplied with brand new riser tube & head assemblies, both were double strainer vessels too. Going by the photos of the ones above, you could end up with anything- I've no doubt they would work but I wouldn't take the risk of having two mismatched second hand vessels especially if you can get two new ones for £112- then that's a bargain!!

No worries chief- if you know about those then you've clearly got quite a bit of knowledge about all this stuff - good luck with it all

Finally got these set up tonight.

Big up to @SPCleaning @winpoclean (can't bring up your name when using @ ??)

Thanks for help chaps.

I can't believe how quickly the tank filled up - so so so quick compared to previous set up. And we have 100% pure water coming out! Whoop whoop!

The only casualty was the fuse blew on leisure battery cause Frank didn't do the wiring back correct after moving the pump. But only a 70p mistake compared to the £400 bill that Frank kindly gave me x2 days ago with scratch on the van. I've had enough of you this week Franky boy . Go and pick on someone else :)

hi all, firstly a massive thanks to all you chaps on here for some brill advice and help, it's a brill forum man!At the moment I've a DI VESSEL, no reverse osmosis .I bumped into a WFP window cleaner who's been cleaning 10 yr with wfp. I told him my tds reading was 72 ppm and he said I should have a REVERSE OSMOSIS set up! What do you chaps think?
72 ppm is fine for di i run two inline the one nearest to hose reel starts to rise i put ,it at the back and replace with new if yuo use say 800 ltrs a week should last you two months

Only thing I would do now mate is lower the pump. Ideally, you want it as low to the van floor as possible- much less prone to air ingress then./emoticons/wink.png Apart from that, it all looks good!

Cheers mate. There is one thing I've been wondering about. Does the metal siv which is in a circular see through 'thing' which is just before the pump.......stay in the same position. It's the bit which hangs upside down and you can see the water go through . Just wondering if that would usually stop any very small bits of resin from hitting the windows......

That's a mouthful & difficult to describe what I'm getting at!

I can take a photo if you don't understand /emoticons/smile.png

Yes, that is called a strainer & is there to prevent any dirt getting into the pump so obviously must stay on the inlet side of the pump but doesn't have to be directly next to it.
